Launching the Street Performance World Championship this afternoon, the Space Cowboy broke the world record for the most weight dragged by the eye-sockets, pulling Goliath (the world’s smallest strongman) and five Wallys in a tricycle 10 metres up Grafton Street.

With his eye sockets.

That’s not right.

All over the Russian internets lately, and now translated into English thanks to AFP, writer Sergei Kalenik’s hilarious Super Putin, Man like Any Other is surely a film waiting to happen.

Set in Moscow in spring 2011, “one year before the world ends,” the comic casts Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin as a gi-wearing action hero who, assisted by bear suit-wearing sidekick President Dmitry Medvedev, saves a busload of people from a bomb in a storyline that’s equal parts Speed, Night Watch and The Walking Dead. There’s also a little bit of political commentary sprinkled in. “We wanted to stir Russia’s depressing political scene and create some dialogue,” Kalenik tells AFP.

With just weeks to go before the London show, Gavin approached former PD minister Liz O’Donnell, telling her that the row had left him nearly ‘broken’ and that Ireland was about to be hugely embarrassed by the project’s no-show in Chelsea.

Miss O’Donnell went to Agriculture Minister Simon Coveney, a Cork TD. Then Transport Minister Leo Varadkar also intervened – and the council finally released the cash.

Gavin’s own design fee was €222,017 which includes a design fee of €120,000 for the first year, and then two more design fees of €50,049 for each of the following two years.

“Mein GOTT!”

Lionel Messi scores Barcelona’s second goal against Manchester United tonight.

Cruel but funny quote from the RTE Sports Live Feed:

“Ryan Giggs, who has been in the tabloids all week because of his quest for anonymity, seems to have found it tonight on the Wembley pitch.”

You’ll remember President Obama said – mid-pint in Ollie Hayes’ pub – that he had been in Ireland once before on a stop-over to Kabul and then quickly changed the subject.

Basing our calculations on age-old methods (The Bodger Algorithm) the president could only have drank his first Guinness and got to see a bit of Shannon on four dates.

We know he visited Afghanistan two times since becoming President.

This would mean he stopped over in Limerick Co Clare on either the nights before and after December 3, 2010 and the nights before and after March 28.

As to who knew when and what we shall have to leave that for another day.

You’re most welcome.
