Two female action figures from US toy company MEGO – a dominant force in the 1970s action figure market. The examples above are the before (left) and after (right) results of a rare recall and ‘re-sculpture’.

The initial versions were just deemed that fugly.

Wonder Woman (and for pity’s sake let’s just assume that hand was designed to hold a lasso of truth) you probably recognise. The second figure  – believe it or not – is Daisy (Catherine Bachman) from the Dukes of Hazzard.

MEGO filed for bankruptcy in 1982.

Enda Kenny with former rugby international Mick Galwey (top) and his trademark ‘clenched fist’  launching the third annual Cycle4Haiti charity cycle literally an hour ago, which aims to raise a record €400,000 for The Soul of Haiti Foundation.
The cycle “will take place over the May bank holiday weekend and this year starts on Saturday 4th May from three locations in Dublin, Sligo and Tipperary and converging in Athlone for an overnight rest. The following day, Sunday 5th May, the peloton will spin a further 85kms to the finish line in Eyre Square, Galway.”

Yay, etc.

I think you should bring ACTA to your readers attention as it is the European version of SOPA/PIPA (internet wise anyway) and that the European parliament is going to vote on it shortly. Here’s a typo kinetic about it. It does sum it up pretty nicely.

UCD Students’ Union runs a second hand book shop on campus in Belfield. The College Tribune newspaper found that they had dumped hundreds of books in a skip.

The paper retrieved them and are now giving them out for free. Kinda funny: a students’ union dumping books?

Dear Broadsheet

I am the press officer at the European Commission representation in Ireland. It looks like you are facilitiating hate mail which could be the subject of a Garda investigation (hate email is illegal, last time I looked).
Since “Dirky” left a comment on ‘Who Is Barbara Nolan?’ inviting people to email her, hate mail has been arriving in this office, possibly ochestrated, as the messages are similar. Examples available. Please tell me how you will deal with this?

1) We were on a flight to Abu Dhabi when it was posted. We have the boarding pass.

2) Blame “Dirky”

3) Run.

4) Express surprise as Barbara’s email is publicly available (last time we looked).

5) Encourage emails inciting love.

6) Say soz and move on.
