Like that.

A female Amethyst-throated Sunangel (Heliangelus amethysticollis) sleeps in Peru. Apparently, the background hum is the sound of a generator attached to a machine measuring how much oxygen the bird is consuming.

Future studies will reveal how hummingbirds also fart and scratch themselves in the night.

And a goat.

From the National Library Of Ireland:

This photo was taken some time in 1964. Two girls feeding a goat that has been chained up to graze on the banks of the Grand Canal at Mespil Road in Dublin (between Baggot Street and Leeson Street Bridges). Surely a sight that you would not see today.

Damn early D4 hipsters.

They still call him ‘squee’ behind his back.

The primary concern among Cabinet Ministers relates to the President’s comments about the possibility of summoning the Council of State if the Government proceeds to ratify the fiscal compact treaty by legislation rather than referendum.
There were also some raised eyebrows in the Labour Party at the President expressing opposition to privatisation in the week that the Government decided to sell off stakes in State companies worth €3 billion.

So it has begun.

Let the best knee win.

The good ones always emigrate.

From Knoxnews.com in Tennessee:

These Irishmen were so enamored with the U.S., they stole an American flag from the TVA building in downtown Knoxville in January and draped themselves in it, according to their attorney. And at least one of them has a picture to prove it.

John Patrick Kerrigan, 33, (top) and James Mulroy, 28, (above) both of Dublin, had been charged with vandalism and misdemeanor theft after they jumped Jan. 18 from a taxi, cut the flagpole rope at the TVA building off Summit Hill Drive to bring the flag down and then darted off with it into the Crowne Plaza hotel where they were staying.

Their excuse?

…their attorney, Tommy Hindman, insisted it was an act of American patriotism – albeit a drunken one.

And later

Because fellow Irishman and well-known actor Colin Farrell was in town around the time of the the pair’s shenanigans, rumors abounded the duo stole the flag at Farrell’s behest. Not so, says Hindman.

“I asked them if they knew Colin Farrell,” he said. “They said, ‘Who?'”
