Having contributed to Broadsheet with this gem, you might be interested to know that Sluts [an original Irish comedy by Lir and UCD graduate Caitriona Daly] will be showing in Dublin from July 8th-11th as part of the 10 Days in Dublin Festival in the New Theatre, Temple Bar. We would greatly appreciate if you would give the show a mention at any stage before it starts on Sunday.

What you may need to know:

1. Busy week for The Cruiser: he turned 50, is getting divorced and topped Forbes’ list of highest paid actors. OK, nobody went to see him in Rock Of Ages (2012), but he’s the best thing in it by yards.

2. Jack Reacher brings Lee Child‘s literary bad-ass to the big screen. The movie adapts One Shot, the seventh Reacher novel. Fans were up in arms at Cruise’s casting, primarily because Jack Reacher is 6’5 tall and Tom Cruise stands 3’4 in Bono heels. Or thereabouts.

3. Jack Reacher is written and directed by Chris McQuarrie, who won an Oscar for writing The Usual Suspects (1995) and directed the under-appreciated Way Of The Gun (2000).

4. Plenty of punters out there have issues relating to Tom Cruise, because of his involvement with Scientology, or just because, well he’s plain old creepy. Fair enough. He’ll always be Les Grossman to us.

5. While we’re at it, whatever happened to Tom Crooze?

My two spaniels (Mel and Lou) drink rainwater in preference to tap water containing fluoride. Animal instinct is worth noting when even the dogs in the street are aware of something unnatural grouped with bromine, chlorine and iodine in our drinking water.
Their teeth, by the way, are in perfect condition! – Yours, etc,

Tayto Mighty Munch: of which Wikipedia (science’s most trusted knowledge repository) sez:

Mighty Munch is a corn snack available in Ireland made by Tayto. They are shaped into the shape of a monster’s paw with three fingers and a hole in the hand. They were originally known as Monster Munch but renamed when the branded name was sold. Its flavour is hot and spicy. It used to contain an unusual red spice called ‘stinge’ but due to many allergic reactions (such as diarrhea) and complaints the spice was removed from the ingredients. It has been known in Ireland as a hangover cure.

‘Stinge’?

Seriously, anyone?
