[Henry Street Garda Sation in Limerick]

The Limerick Leader is reporting that people have been prosecuted for becoming aggressive and abusive at Henry Street Garda Station with one case involving a man who was at the station to sign on as part of a bail condition and was told the station had no biro for him.

The man was told to get his own biro – prompting him to become ‘aggressive’.

The situation, according to Judge Eugene O’Kelly, is ‘not acceptable’.

The paper reports:

“Commenting on the facts of the case, Judge Eugene O’Kelly expressed concerns about the “lack of biros” at the garda station and he said it was not the first time that he had heard of such an incident.
…
“The judge added that, if cases continue to come before the court arising from the lack of biros at Henry Street garda station, he will consider not granting applications to include a signing-on condition when granting suspects bail.“

The carved out seats – augmented with plastic cast taxidermy moulds and epoxy putty – were made for the ‘Saddle Up!’ show at Vancouver’s Hot Wet City Art Gallery where donated bike seats were modified and reinterpreted by various artists.

[Dr Allan Mee, project manager of the Golden Eagle Trust with a white-tailed eagle in 2007]

Dr Mee spoke to Colm Ó Mongáin on Morning Ireland this morning about the white-tailed eagle that was found dead in a Tipperary field, saying:

“[There were] about 50 shotgun pellets, so, mostly on one side of the body so it kind of points to the fact that somebody walked up to the bird…because the pellets are all on one side of the body and shot it. The bird managed to get away and survive for a number of weeks but it must have been a slow pretty horrible death until it ultimately starved.”
