Maura Derrane and Daithi O’Se of RTÉ One’s Today show
An inclusive wedding competition?
Get up the yard.
If you’ve found the person you want to spend the rest of your life with and plan to take that trip down the aisle then the Today show wedding competition is for you.
“This will be the Today show wedding,” explains [Today show host] Maura Derrane. “You must to be available to get married at the end of April and of course, you’ll have to have a valid wedding licence [you have to be of opposite sex to obtain a wedding license]. We’ll film the wedding for the Today show and you never know Dáithí and I could turn up!”
Meanwhile, on Newstalk…
They do!

A wedding licence? Ne’er heard of such a thing. D’ya get that in the post office?
Yeah that’s an important difference. There have been lots of same sex weddings in Ireland but none of them has resulted in a same sex marriage. Lots of people think a civil partnership is legally the same as a civil marriage, it’s not! Loads of legal differences!
Lots of people think that? Sounded good anyway.
What’s the point? They want a wedding. Currently, a same-sex wedding is not possible.
A same-sex wedding is possible currently, a same-sex marraige is not.
They wanted a wedding that resulted in an actual marriage I guess.
I love Newstalk’s two-fingers to the BAI. Absolute genius.
Something very yum about Maura.
Maura Derrane… I want to marry you.
What about that fringe cut she has some days that makes her look like Jim Carrey in dumb and dumberer
Mrs Deasy int’she?
And baptismal certs I hope too. And certification that all children produced will be raised Catholic. And an oath that contraceptive devices will not be used.
