    Coolmine station? I saw them too and decided not to engage, my husband did however and asked them how that would make young kids struggling with their sexuality feel seeing that on their way to school today. They replied “it would be better if they were normal”, he said “so gay people are abnormal then?”, “yes”.

      They are Baptists. True “believers” which is why they only get baptised as adults… but are indoctrinated through childhood. And they tend to like literal interpretations of the Bible.

        Can’t stand organised religion, but, for the record, that’s a bit unfair to Baptists. There’s a common impression that Baptists are incredibly backward fanatics, but it’s not exactly true, it’s just that Fred Phelps and his ilk are very obvious.
        But Baptists have often been very supportive of progressive values, and often fought very hard against the less liberal versions, they’ve fairly consistently fought for civil rights, the removal of Creationism from schools, etc. etc.

      I think that card was pulled out when the “children” topic was brought up first.

      The association is obvious – they are appealing to the old church’s (yes, I mean that church, with those priests & bishops) link between homosexuality and paedophilia by putting pictures of children up and making them seem vulnerable. It’s just that Iona etc. know how to put their message across without inviting litigious action.

      I know from recent experience, it is practically impossible to talk some of the No side around to a tolerant point of view.

    Dizzy believe me I can relate. But here are some terrible reasons to vote NO.
    don’t vote No because you don’t believe Brendan Courtney – he isn’t every homosexual
    don’t vote No because Una Mullally’s priveleged whine is like nails on a blackboard – she isn’t every homosexual
    don’t vote No because Colm O’Gorman is a PD – he isn’t every homosexual
    don’t vote No because you suspect the yes side are fighting dirty – All the people taking down posters probably aren’t homosexual at all

    In other words don’t vote No as a reaction against the Yes side. Only vote No if you have some positive reason to do so. I don’t have any reason to vote No that isn’t based on my own Homophobia. So I’ll be voting Yes.

    Don’t use your vote to Troll. Vote Yes.

    I am so glad I am out of the country for the build up to the election cause when I see nonsense like this all I see is red. Keith Mills is nothing but an attention seeking sociopath and as for the baptist church they can fupp off with their outdated views on most of the goings on of life. I should send some of my married friends who can’t have kids around to talk to the blanch preacher and see if he can talk to them about how their marriage means nothing cause they can’t have kids.

        Sorry I’ve been up all night watching that unholy fupp up in the UK it’s the voting that currently is on my mind but of course I mean the referendum. But after last nights results I wonder how reliable polling is and should I be worried.

    Sorry, I must have misread the wording on the March Referendum.

    Judging by the language on this card and on similar publications by the No side, the wording must be:

    “Will you continue to tolerate the insult to God’s law where a man lays with a man or a woman lays with a woman?”

    Luckily, that it is NOT what is being voted on.

    Although many people on the “God Says NO” side seem to think it is.

      lot has two angels stay in his gaff. the townsfolk rally and demand to shag the angels. lot offers the townsfolk his virgin daughters instead. the townsfolk still have the horn for the angels, so the angels strke them blind and rain sulphur and hot ash down on the towns. lot gathers his family (minus wife, who is now a pillar of salt) and move up the road where they settle but because the daughters all lost their men, they all shag lot to get pregnant.

      they’re all as bad as each other, to be fair.

      Mind you, it could have been any of a number of things – god invented a lot of things he doesn’t really like, which seems careless.

      Anyway, these religious really take the biscuit. The worst reason to vote no is that an imaginary old man in the sky doesn’t like SSM but refuses to do anything about it despite being omnipotent.
