A study by boffins has found,
That Ireland’s incredibly round,
I think, in their way,
They’re trying to say,
We’re dynamic and modern and sound.

Ireland, really?
what does this mean exactly?
ELIA5
We’re back, baby!!!
is it based on emigration stats any change?
This link has the list of indices & information sources it is based upon.

Some of those these, like ‘data on telephone calls’ & ‘international tourism’ may indeed be influenced by emigration.
The fact that Norway is showing up purple (91+) when it’s listed at no. 20 (82.83) is killing me. WHY???
Wow dudes, that’s so fricking amazing.
What does ‘globalised country’ mean?
That if a larger economy get’s so much as a sneeze, Ireland’s has a stroke and massive cardiac arrest?
That we completely abandoned any attempts to encourage indigenous industry ‘coz tax breaks for foreigners’ are easier and are thus totally on the hook to our multinational sugardaddies?
^this.
Assuming the multinationals have weighed this in our favour?
or to be more accurate in their favour…
This is what it’s measured on…
The KOF Index of Globalization measures the three main dimensions of globalization:
economic
social
and political.
In addition to three indices measuring these dimensions, we calculate an overall index of globalization and sub-indices referring to
actual economic flows
economic restrictions
data on information flows
data on personal contact
and data on cultural proximity.
