Nice, for a snide remark. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the “portacabin” build. A building company from Sweden, when the boom was happening, trying to get permission to build homes like that at very reasonable prices and they got blocked from doing so. If it going enough for Sweden it’s good enough for Ireland.

They were supposed to be ready for Christmas, but are two months behind schedule due to bad weather, protests, and the intimidation of builders on the site.

    This sounds familiar

The builders themselves made a point of saying that the protests had little if any impact on the timeline.

There you go again, hating the people who always get put down by the unique Irish middle class hatred of the vulnerable.

No they didn’t. The representative from Western Building Systems in NORTHERN IRELAND (what, couldn’t give the business to a company down here, no ? ), was on the radio and said the original programme of 90 days was condensed due to the hassle on site. The delays, protest etc all meant that the programme was now going back to 90 days. That’s 3 months folks, so end of Feb or March sometime before completion
These are the words of the contractor actually putting them up, not mine.

          “… NORTHERN IRELAND”

Companies from any country in the EU are allowed tender for public work; given that there was public money involved, on would hope that the Govt went with the company who provided the best deal, no?

Sounds familiar because dishers of dirt like yourself and the Irish Independent peddle this rubbish to push a right wing political ideology of every man for himself and zero solidarity for people and community.

Yeah.. but it’s similar to Soggy knickers – i.e. Joany, showing up at the opening of a food bank, thinking it’s a great thing.

They look pretty good inside. Probably more weather proof / damp proof than your average Irish built house.

ah im done with broadsheet .. i put up a comment, and yet again it didnt get passed by admin. no cursing, nothing troublesome, just a fairly straight forward opinion. they dont mind all the usual right-wing crowd, so why block me? must be right-wing all the way thru so, and not just the commenters.

    1. rotide

Yeah, If there’s one thing you can depend on with broadsheet its right wingers as far as the eye can see.

They just got rid of the last few tower blocks in Ballymun because they helped GHETTOIZE the whole neighborhood for so many years. And now they’re starting it all over again.

      And his mama cries,
Cause if there’s one thing that she don’t need,
It’s another hungry mouth to feed….

Ghetto Supastar, that is what we are
Come away with me, to another place
We can rely on each otha, uh-oooh

    2. rotide

GHETTOIZE sounds like a chrome addon I need to have.

      Bertie Blenkinsop:
      Y’alls old lady be trippin
      she don’t need no
      hungry shortys
