A Limerick A Day

I’m so pleased I can hardly speak
We’ve soared past our previous peak,
And those who charge rent,
Can do as they’re meant,
And squeeze you till they make you squeak.

But, but… won’t someone please think of the buy to let landlords whose costs have gone up by 28% over the last few years and who have been struggling to make a profit over the past few years too… (from Morning Ireland earlier)

Yeah, some of them subsidised their mortgage payments on top of the rental income in the bad days. Where was government then? People should be able to take out a 10 year mortgage on an apartment, kit it out to the lowest standard AND make a profit from people who can’t get mortgages. Only fair.

Not at all. That’s one of Argos’s “mid range” up-lighters, if I’m not mistaken.

Time to bring back Rent Tax Credit? It is due to expire in 2017 (like Mortgage Interest Relief) and has been closed to new entrants since 2010.
