New Chief Running Water

You may recall previous reports detailing how Irish Water spent €16million on extending its lease – by 10 years – at its Colville House, Talbot Street, Dublin 1 headquarters just three days after the general election.

Further to this…

Irish Independent reports:

Jerry Grant has been appointed managing director of Irish Water. The former head of asset management in the utility, he replaces John Tierney who was the company’s first boss.

… Ervia group chief executive Michael McNicholas said Mr Grant brought 40 years of experience to the role.

You may recall how Mr Grant was managing director of RPS Consulting Engineering from 2002 until 2012 – before he joined Irish Water in 2013.

Mr Tireney was Dublin City Manager from 2006 to 2013.

RPS advised Dublin City Council on the Poolbeg incinerator project which has to date cost the State almost €100million with more than €30million going to RPS, even though the original contract was for €8.3million.

The EU found the contract between Dublin City Council and RPS did not conform with EU law.

Good times.

It’s like changing the captain on a sinking ship. He may well get his payday but the ship still goes down. It’s almost like all the crony parasites are coming out of the woodwork to get their piece of the action before it’s too late. Disgusting, corrupt quango.

Their PR Manager has been notably absent from the media for quite a while now. What gives?

ah yea, just to add to the mess, appoint an absolute spendthrift to add to the waste. this is your legacy FG & FF.. this is your poop show that you will forever be remembered for. FF broke the nation, and brought in the idea of crippling water charges when the people had nothing left to give. FG then perpetuated the problem by pumping endless cash into IW, cash which wouldve fixed pipes etc., but it was never about that, its about selling a resource needed by everyone to European masters. FF and FG have completely let down the people of Ireland, shamelessly. Not only shamelessly, but have contempt for us for refusing to be a cash cow for their mates who will give them jobs in Europe in return. The whole water thing has really exposed the disgusting sides to the leading parties. theyve woken an angry bear, and theyve tried deterring the angry bear by poking it with sticks.

Oh hi Steve, who would have guessed you would appear on an Irish Water topic eh?

In fairness they had to appoint someone and I would much prefer an engineer like Grant than Tierney but the Poolbeg connection is no surprise. From start to finish this was jobs for the boys (and girls) and that will be their downfall. I expect it is compulsory for them to say they are an equal opportunities employer but the reality is clearly different.

Not pipe of peace but pipe of water.
