aeroplanes on different paths may come with a few hundred yards vertically, but those on the same path must maintain a distance of a few miles

Small, far away. And so on. Is there anything more scary than traveling at 500mph, up 30km in the air, in an aluminium can with ten tons of kerosene under your bottom?

2-3 Km away and probably at a slightly higher altitude. So about as close as I am to getting my fantasy shag.

1000ft vertical separation or 10miles at the same level at altitude. Closer as you near the airport on final approach.

OMG YOU NEARLY DIED. I’m a journalist with the Daily Mail and we’d love to share your story.

flying Ryanair to Dublin on Sunday we seemed to be a few feet under a very recent contrail . probably miles away or old ( hopefully) .
also the stewardess waved a backpack around and asked who owned it.nobody claimed it so she just shrugged and shoved it in an overhead bin.I was going to speak up but had visions of a 5 hour delay so just stayed scutum and hoped we wouldn’t explode.

Thank you for your vigilance/intelligence for not speaking up about the mystery bag. Your visions of a 5 hour delay must have been nightmarish.

A 5 hour delay in those gwadawful Ryanair bucket seats seems more hellish than just snuffing it to be fair.

I saw an unattended bay in the queue to go through security at Stansted recently and after a long internal debated I decided that I didn’t want to be the one responsible for having the place evacuated, for those interested, its owner turned up, she was moving it forward at the u turns but leaving it behind in between because it was too heavy!

Airplanes must be at least 600 km away from each other unless one is broken down and needs a tow.
