Don’t feck your glass bottle onto the cycle path when you’re finished, please. A lot of others did that yesterday which made my cycle in to work precarious. I’ll be going by in 25 mins: make sure to wave.

They let us out early because it’s only a grand day out there and sure it’s Friday.

With the actual sun on my back, I am very partial to cranking up Here Comes The Summer by The Undertones https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=edQPMLV2ITs but Bertie’s probably got it with the Isley Brothers. And the LEN one is good, and Bran Van 3000 Drinking in LA (which I find to be a sort of twin of Steal My Sunshine)

God, I forgot Eels. Did you see that show he did about his Dad? Very sad, very interesting. I saw them perform in Temple Bar, I think? He was wearing a hazmat suit. Brilliant, but bonkers.

I was completely unaware. Just googled it there, Parallel Worlds, Parallel Lives. I’ll stick it on this week, thanks for the heads up!

With the actual sun on my back, I am very partial to cranking up “Islands in the Stream” by Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton.

It’s not a winning entry… but now it’s stuck in at least one person’s head for the rest of the day.

    Muuuah ha ha!

Brill, but only after 7pm, when the sun starts going down, and the ache of it all slipping away starts to take hold

With the sun on my back, I am partial to cranking up
    Dario G- Sunchyme
Spiller feat Sophie Ellis Bexter- Groovejet
    Wobbel U- Petal
Tim Delux- It Just Won’t Do
in a guilty pleasure kind of way

With the actual sun on my back, I am very partial to cranking up Haddaway’s “What Is Love”. Failing every time to refrain from head bobbing!

  6. Daisy Chainsaw

With the actual sun on my back, I am very partial to cranking up “Groovin’ on a Sunday Afternoon” by the Rascals. Aside from being the theme tune to a 2fm show that introduced me to 60’s music when I was a young ‘un, it’s just so laid back and invokes a feeling of sleepy warmth and contentment because I can’t keep my eyes open due to the brightness of the sun…

    “I can’t imagine anything that’s better…”

  7. The Ghost of Starina

With the actual sun on my back, I am very partial to cranking up the entirety of Studio One’s DJ’s compilation, particularly Dilllinger’s “Natty Kung Fu”:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lLkp-X41hr0

I rarely listen to reggae in the winter but once the sun is out, something takes hold and I have to celebrate the heat in my limbs.

With the actual sun on my back, I am very partial to cranking up Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark’s delightful electronica, Talking Loud and Clear, especially as it references “With the sun on our backs”…bliss!

    “Talking loud and clear
    Saying just what I feel
    Lying in the grass
With the sun on our backs
    It doesn’t really matter
What we do or what we say
    With every little movement
    We give ourselves away”

‘With the actual sun on my back, I am very partial to cranking up…..Sun (by Caribou)’. In does exactly what it says on the tin, ‘innit! Particularly treasured memories panned out on the grass at various festivals over the years or just in a park with a bags of cans, good times **grabs coat, leaves work early**

‘With the actual sun on my back, I am very partial to cranking up Electric Light Orchestra – Mr Blue Sky. Yes its a bit obvious and a bit overplayed at this time of the year but to be fair it’s an all time classic. At the start you can hear a radio jock saying “Warning! today’s forecast calls for blue sky’s” and then into the unmistakable and energetic intro, I dare you not to smile, or tap a toe, bob the head, this is special. Then towards the end we get a change of tempo, a moment of calm before the songs final lyric – Does he say “Misterr Bluuue Skyyyy”? No, its a trick I tells ye!, he says “Please, turn me over” – to Side B for ELO’s “One Summer Dream”.

    Mr. Blue sky
    Please tell us why
You had to hide away for so long (so long)
    Where did we go wrong

    Hey, there, Mr. Blue
We’re so pleased to be with you
Look around, see what you do
    Everybody smiles at you

Alternative Great Vid – (No “Please turn me over” in this one)
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=swYdKF1MpWg

One Summer Dream to continue with ELO listening
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yn4407UBuGA

Have a great evening folks, easy on the Bulmers!

Funny. I was in a coffee shop yesterday and heard Mr Blue Sky and thought ‘I forgot what a great song that is’ I hadn’t heard it in ages.

With the actual sun on my back, I am very partial to Cranking up.

By which I mean watching the Jason Statham film, Crank. Not because its any good, but because it features the song Everybody’s Talking by Harry Nilsson

Not done yet – I am very partial to cranking up Jacking the Ball by the Sea and Cake – brings me back to my 6 months in Brisbane, mellow tune with unrelenting good vibe roll

Yada Yada beautiful day by elbow. Yeah it’s a cliche but if you can’t smile at this on a sunny day then you should see a doctor.
