All memories are legends. There’s a hint of truth in them but they can’t be relied on and certainly couldn’t be considered factual.
Very true. It”s a sobering thought when you consider how much of the criminal justice system depends on truthful and accurate recall by various parties of events which usually happened some time in the past. Even the most honest witness cannot help smoothing over the gaps in their perception and recall, especially when they have rolled it through their mind a hundred times.
