This morning.
That facial expression.
Royal College of Physicians, Kildare Street Dublin.
Fianna Fáil party leader Micheál Martin launching his party’s European Election Manifesto with Director of Elections, Lisa Chambers (white top) and Billy Kelleher (yellow tie), Anne Rabbitte (red top), Malcolm Byrne (purple tie), Brendan Smith (front right) and Barry Andrews (back left) – the five candidates nominated to contest the election on May 24.
Fianna Fáil leader Micheál Martin has said that his party is targeting a minimum of three seats in the European Parliament elections on 24 May.
He vowed that Fianna Fáil’s five candidates would seek to protect core EU values, such as a free media and an independent judiciary across the EU.
….He said that others are seeking to undermine the union and are continuing to spread conspiracy theories about EU militarisation.

Rabbitte, eh?

Posing all smiles. Reality bites then. Confidence and Supply tricksters.

Protecting a free media? When has FF in the past five years made a peep about media concentration in Ireland with Denis O’Brien controlling the largest press group (with a 60% share of the market) and the largest commercial radio group, which includes Newstalk and Talk Radio? I’ll tell you when, never.
An independent judiciary across the EU? Which is the three main parties is objecting to and filibustering the Bill to create an independent judicial appointments board which will not be dominated by legal insiders? I’ll tell you which one, FF.
As for conspiracy theories about EU militarisation, it was FF which supported FG in signing Ireland up to Pesco. Remember what the Fine Gaelers in Europe are arguing for (in their own words) “Amending Ireland’s ‘Triple Lock’ system; Supporting the emerging EU Defence Union; Redefining neutrality; Developing a National Security Council; Creating a Central Intelligence Unit; Spending more on defence both current and capital; Developing Ireland’s defence industry; Assessing the implications of Brexit for our security and defence policy; Continuing our strong commitment to peacekeeping and crisis management operations; and Establishing a cohesive National Cyber Security Strategy.”

Conspiracy theorists aren’t plucking their concerns from thin air, Micheal!
FF have no MEPs right now. They’re targetting “a minimum of three”. I wonder will they even get one?

Since FF backs up and supports the Gov, why have FF and FG not arranged an
electoral pact in the European an Local Elections which would really test the
electorates confidence in either of them
I can’t get The Gooch out of my head every time I see yer man Andrews election poster in pic one.
