I’m all for taller buildings getting planning permission (even if it has to be for this guy…)

But christ he’s doing himself no favours bringing trump into this.

I don’t think trump is an expert in any area (the fact that his businesses have gone so often t!ts-up backs me up on this).

But that’s not the point – ronan’s aim here is to garner public support, something he certainly won’t do by making favourable references to trump.

He’s drawn favourable comparison to well known multi storey landmarks associated with Trumps name, not with Trump himself

Ah would these lads ever fupp off

    NO

You cannot have your giant fupping office block

    NO

11 stories is not a ‘giant’ office block; there are half a dozen buildings taller than it nearby.

He’s right though, bizarre decision, fair enough if it was anywhere in sight of the Georgian areas but this is in the docks ffs

ABP: “We can’t have any tall buildings because they would look monolithic”
Common Sense: “If you granted planning permission to even half the buildings proposed then they wouldn’t be monolithic…also, so what?”
ABP: “We can’t have any tall buildings…”

The thing about these very big very tall very large buildings is you can see them from anywhere, because how how big, tall and large they are

Dublin will eventually get taller buildings, preferably in a designated zone that doesn’t dwarf the rest of the city. Pity it’s Johnny Ronan leading the charge on this. Also, difficult to forget Johnny wants the two new floors which will accommodate 15,000 sq m for which he won’t pay an additional cent for site costs (typically, €15m on that additional space), Johnny can afford a lot of advertising and PR with a €15m budget.

so DDC could allow him the extra two stories, but slap on a additional €7.5 million fee? win-win

DCC objections aren’t around cash, it’s height and there isn’t really any way a developer can grease any palms or coffers to build higher. Personally, I think the height restrictions should be done away with in all of Docklands, but if that happens, the price of some land will shoot up in value.

    Poor Johnny.

Seems to think the Trump approach is going to work. I have it on (questionable, to be fair) authority that there are an awful lot of people he fupped over out there actively working to knobble everything he does.

More power to them if true.

What is it with people like Trump and him with the hair dos? Seriously, cut yer hair you idiot, Mr Ronan – if you have hair like that at that age and are not in a reasonably decent rock band you might just be a moron.

As for Trump, no idea what that hair do is supposed to be though, seriously, what is it? A mistake?
