‘Let’s Make Labour Sexy Again’

at

Last night.

In the Clayton Silver Springs Hotel in Cork.

The Labour Party held the first of its four hustings in the leadership contest between Alan Kelly and Aodhán Ó Ríordáin.

During his speech, Mr Kelly said:

“Friends, if you elect me as the leader of this great party, a fantastic party, I will make the party relevant again.

“I will make it connect again and restore confidence in our members.”

During his speech, Mr Ó Ríordáin said:

“Politics is about what we do. But it’s also about how we make people feel. And if people feel that we have let them down, well then we have.

“And then we have to rebuild that trust and indeed to start again.”

Labour sold out in 2011 and were finally dead and buried with their support of
Property Tax and Water Tax by 2016 GE, The Gilmores, Rabbites and Burton are
to blame, compare the Pension Joan Burton is on in comparison to a 67 year
old retiree and she or her cohorts haven’t to wait to 67 to be given it, and what
opposition stance did eitherO’ Riordian or Kelly take on Water Charges

Support of a property tax should be a given for a party of the left. I’m not sure why you think it shouldn’t?
Do you think a party like Labour should oppose property tax?

It’s mental how out-of-step the political discourse is in Ireland – Trots and revolutionary socialists all opposing property taxes…

Are you suggesting you Tax Family places of abode which are in a lot of cases
occupied by Old Age Pensioners and Family Income earners paying huge
mortgages on over inflated house values, the revenue collected being used
to bale out bankrupt banks that created the mess

It’s almost as if they are talking about a sagging brand rather than a political movement with integrity … almost.

ill never forget how aggressively he was pushing water charges. showing a really clear anger towards people who objected. ill never forget how he wanted to circumnavigate the literal actual law, and take money straight out of our bank accounts for water charges. so any attempt to look like a socialist of any degree is very transparent to me, and hopefully others.

I think any healthy democracy needs a healthy labour party so I would like to see them returning to strength again, under ORiordan is Kelly is just too divisive.
Maybe the SocDems might even absorb the party and it’s title in the not too distant future.
