The Taoiseach is to shorten his traditional St Patrick’s visit to the US because of the coronavirus.
Leo Varadkar will begin his trip in Washington on Wednesday and will not visit New York as previously planned.
He was due to attend a UN event in New York as part of Ireland’s bid for a seat on the United Nations Security Council.
A Government spokesperson said the Taoiseach is looking forward to attending a series of engagements in Washington on Wednesday evening and Thursday, including meeting President Donald Trump at the White House.
