You’re right, I wasn’t allowing for the letters coming after the numbers instead of before.
…and yet the model looks older than early 80’s. Could it be a re-registered import from that time,?

1980 MGB GT, 1.8 Petrol, 97 bhp. An original Irish car.
Can’t be older than 1973 – those old style numbers before letters were in operation between 1958 and 1973. Also chrome bumpers had gone by then. That’s a Northern Irish reg with a Co. Antrim prefix which was the first county to switch to Letters before numbers in 1966 so I’d say that Marylou’s 1965 date is correct
I think letters before numbers preceeded vice versa
