Left Wet And Dry

“We’ve a Taoiseach looking like he’s in opposition, we’ve a Tanaiste that thinks he’s taoiseach and a Minister for Health who’s going around acting independently of everyone else.”

Publican Paraic Geary

This afternoon.

Cork City and Carrigaline, County Cork.

Pub owners, staff and supporters rally in Cork and picket the office of Minister for Foreign Affairs and Minister for Defence Simon Coveney in Carrigaline during a nationwide publican backlash against Covid-19 measures for pubs that don’t sell food.

Fight, etc.

Maybe if society was less cold full off selfish me me mentality a crutch of a drug would not be needed

At least in pubs it’s administered under supervision unlike drinking at home

Maybe ban alcohol smoking gambling sex food and TV

Great to see the Vintners and Hoteliers lose some of their lobbying power. They’re why you can drive from Cork to Dublin on the new ” motorways” without finding either a lay-by or a service station.

But Covid will spread like wildfire unless you are magically protected by a 9€ soup and sandwich! After all the HSE and Gardai have saved everyone by visiting unannounced the Covid hot spots of meat plants to protect the exploited work force… Apologies I was dreaming, I forgot about FFFGGP’s joke enforcement..39 visits to meat factories of which 30 were with advance notice! Versus 6000 bar and restaurant visits, complete and utter corruption, we can’t upset our captains of industry can we?

Seriously due to the lack of enforcement of the covid hotspots I think another full lockdown is on the cards as I would bet on an exponential increase due to the current government shambles

True to form, they even failed to picket Coveney’s office.
They picketed his old office in Carrigaline.

HOW CAN A MEAL PROTECT PEOPLE!!!
    OPEN THE PUBS!

There is far too much attention on the pubs in the media as if they are the backbone to employment. They are 1 of many industries devastated and without access to work. Other industries dont have a voice or politicians with vested interest.

Most of what the vintners complain about is boohucky but I side with them on this one. Not that they should be open, which I don’t think they’re saying either, but that the will-they-won’t-they shillyshallying over when the pubs will be open is intolerable. These are businesses that take a fairly substantial investment to get going once they’ve stopped, the government needs to figure out a concrete timeline and stick to it, if they keep dangling the fish and yanking it away again these people are simply going to run out of capability to restart their livelihoods.

Pubs only need to provide food, not actually cook it. They just need to provide menus from local restaurants ir chippers, charge 9 euro and kick the customer out after 105 minutes.
    It really isn’t that difficult.
