The Confessors on RTÉ One revealed the sacrement would often involve “priests in a very abusive, voyeuristic, not to mention erotic way … drawing people out ”
It’s asserted that more than one priest
Was a dirty voyeuristic beast
Who made each confession
An x-rated session
A practice we’re told has now ceased

I was looking forward to this but turned it off after 10 minutes. It was like a poor episode of Nationwide. Some of the performances were forced, lacked humour and it looked like it was shot by a student. Such a pity as RTÉ have in recent times commissioned/produced/acquired some really nice documentaries. ‘The Funeral Director’, ‘The Silver Branch’, ‘Older than Ireland’ this ain’t.
I remember a confession I did in national school, and the priest was really angry with me because my sins were not bad enough. It wasn’t until years later I realised he was a peado.
Had a priest we were taken to in primary school, pretty much the common vein was to ask about impure thoughts or interfering with ourselves. Pretty sure he asked every boy in the school. Everyone still jokes about it now. Think it was even a joke amongst the teachers. Not very funny now in hindsight.
This is the premise to a great script
can’t you just see the priests shouldering each other out of the way trying to bagsie the different queues for confession to get the juiciest stories
What if there was like a wife swapping soap opera going on between the different confessions
Feck it, you could stitch together a savage series there
Celibacy great idea to protect the churches property damn the consequences.
Watched it, their confession boxes are used for storing the mops and brooms
