Farmers are pushing for a ban on calling vegetarian products a “burger” or a “sausage” that they say mislead consumers into thinking certain products contain meat
Meat producers assert it’s a shame
That vegans are able to name
Their food how they choose
As this may confuse
Consumers. At least that’s their claim

M’eh.
A burger or a sausage is the shape of the thing. So a beef-burger, or lamb-burger, or chicken-burger, or vegi-burger.
But, “steak” and “escalope” should be protected as they refer specifically to animal parts.
according to merriam-webster, the term ‘veggie-burger’ has been in use since 1972, almost 50 years – it’s a bit late to be cribbing on about it now.
It’s become a threat so now they complain.
Bit of a whiff of Titanic deck chair re-arrangement off this. The reality is that fewer people are eating red meat these days. I have seen it myself with younger relatives who either only go for chicken as their meat option or not at all.
Personally I love steak, but it does seem that its not being eaten as much as it used to be and I probably eat too much red meat as it is. I do love fish, but its pricey if you want quality. The cheap stuff is just not worth it.
The farmers need to start thinking of the future – there might be something in methane production if they can get the technology right on this, large underground tanks filled with decomposing manure might be an energy source but then again might just be a load of actual BS.
I couldn’t believe how cheap fish was here compared to Paris and meat in general too !
Veggies however are crap, limited variety and seem to be pale imitations of the real thing
I wonder if that’s true that fewer people are eating red meat these days. With populations growing and more trade deals happening with developing countries, I wonder if demand is actually increasing.
Find a local fish mongers and avoid the supermarket. Excellent value, great variety and super fresh. During the summer my local fish shop had sardines every Tuesday morning flown in from San Sebastian. All gone by lunchtime.
since when did goujons become mini fillets and chicken dippers become goujons?
Since when did Chicken Nuggets become Chicken Dippers ?
Huh?
What did I miss
