The War Back Home

at

This morning.

Washington DC, USA

Ahead of tomorrow’s Presidential inauguration ceremony…

…the scale of the security effort can be put into perspective by comparing the number of Guard members in Washington to the number of troops currently serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. National Guard members have been arriving in the U.S. capital from all over the country and it is estimated that 25,000 will be present for the inauguration.

That’s five times as high as troop levels in Iraq and Afghanistan combined with around 2,500 service members serving in each country, according to a recent Department of Defense press release.

The USA needs more troops to defend its own Capitol against Trump & his Qanon cultists than it needed to overthrow Saddam.

Considering the amount of weapons that Qanon/Trump zombies have, and a portion of them are army vets. They are more of a danger to the USA than any foreign terrorists right now, or over the last 10 years. I really hope it all passes off without any crazy shootings. D.C. is a tense place.

Domestic terrorists have always been more of a danger in the US. As horrific as 9/11 was, it was an outlier, as the majority of terrorist attacks, like 6 January, were by white, right wing Americans.

I heard a report (Embedded did a podcast talking to those inside the Capitol on the day) of one of the Capitol police officers trying to keep a mob at bay only to have a number of them reveal badges and try to convince him they were fighting for him. When he told them that he had officers down thanks to the mob they snapped out of it for a minute but soon reverted to the mob mentality.

Mah fellow Americans, we must all forget our differences and come together in a spirit of sweet harmony, ecstasy (not tablets), freedom and national renewal. Let us dismantle the physical and mental walls dividing our diverse Nation of Immigrants. The only thing we have to fear is the fear of being fearless. Ask not what your country can do for you: ask what your country’s rulers can do to you. To our enemies we say, Take it easy there. To our friends we say: Don’t take us too easily. I promise to make no highfalutin’ promises or barnstorming speeches. God bless America and the 100 dollar note.

    here’s the Guardian https://www.theguardian.com/world/2021/jan/17/two-female-judges-shot-dead-in-kabul-as-wave-of-killings-continues
    and our local crowd https://www.rte.ie/news/world/2021/0117/1190271-afghanistan/

    Wouldn’t it be great
if this story got even a tenth of the coverage, or talking shop consumption, or trending numbers as say Melania not having Jill around to show her her new digs
    or the indoguration
or who’s performing at the gig
    Or Ivana’s tantrums
of the number of troops redeployed to stop lads who spell genius with J from getting into Nancy Pelosi’s drawers

we all might be the better of it

they shot two judges because they were women

    because they were women

seriously we need to get a grip about what’s really going on overseas
