Corkman Daniel Culhane’s erratic driving on December 16, 2020 went viral
This afternoon.
Via RTÉ News:
A drunk driver who crossed the centre line of a main road over 20 times endangering other drivers has been disqualified from driving for 20 years.
Cork Circuit Court Judge Seán Ó Donnabháin said that if he could have he would have disqualified Daniel Culhane for life.
He also sentenced the 30-year-old, with an address at Owenahincha, Rosscarbery in Co Cork, to four years in prison with one year suspended.
Meanwhile…
Culhane also admitted threatening to kill a man at Teadies Lower, producing a baseball bat while making this threat and causing criminal damage to a vehicle
Meanwhile…
Culhane also pleaded guilty to burglary at Supervalu in Dunmanway and causing criminal damage to a glass panel of a rear door….
Meanwhile..
…As well as stealing ten cans of cider at Kevin O’Leary’s garage in Bandon.
Hic.
Cork man jailed, disqualified for 20 years for drunk driving (RTÉ)
Taking the phrase “on a bender” to a whole new meaning
53 previous and out on bail at the time. I doubt he’ll serve even half the sentence given
And a ban for only 20 years

53 previous convictions, including drunk driving and burglary and had been on bail at the time of the incident.
(Fifty) 3 strikes and your’e out!
David Drumm, €2700000000 fraud and he does less than 3 years in jail.
No mention of his release on state media, aka rte.
No mention? It was on the RTÉ 9.00 news.
Former Anglo CEO David Drumm released from prison https://www.rte.ie/news/ireland/2021/0215/1197326-drumm-released/
I was almost selected for jury service at his trial. The judge let me out of it for personal reasons, but the guy after me got picked for it as the last juror.
Long story, but the reasons the judge gave to allow people out of being on his jury were hilarious.
Basically, no one could be impartial against this guy, plus the judge was saying that the trial would last month and months.
I think the whole jury was let go after a few weeks anyway.
Jesus! What an absolute scumbag.
I’m all for second (even third) chances – but come on
I’m sure all the people who have had loved ones killed in drunk driving incidents will find that video, rather than same one publicly shared by the Gardai, hilarious.
Once he stopped the car filming blocked him in until gardai arrived. Yer man went above and beyond fair play.
a friends 12 year old daughter was knocked off her bicycle in really similar circumstances – 2 guys loaded with booze and coke, string of convictions, banned from driving etc. 4 years on, she’s still dealing with the consequences, while the driver served 10 weeks prison
Cork Circuit Court Judge Seán Ó Donnabháin said that if he could have he would have disqualified Daniel Culhane for life.
Yet the judge could have imposed rhe maximum 10 years for the death threat plus 6 months for dangerous driving plus additional for drink driving, theft, criminal damage, no driving licence and no insurance, all to run consecutively.
Instead, a patethic overly lenient sentence and a lame excuse, take a bow Judge Seán Ó Donnabháin
The guy has form.

Bottom line;
”He jailed the man for six years, suspending three years of the sentence.”
It makes you wonder.
The Irish justice system is a joke.
