This afternoon.

Dr. Anthony Fauci, the public face of the US government’s response to the rona, has released his emails and correspondence at the request of The Washington Post.

The package contains communications from March and April 2020.

Included is an email (top) from Dr Fauci saying masks are ineffective as the virus “is small enough to pass through the material”.

Another (middle) from scientist Kristian Anderson tells Dr Fauci that SARS-CoV-2 has “unusual features” that “potentially look engineered”. Dr Fauci has defended the natural-origin theory since the beginning of the pandemic.

Meanwhile…

Also in the email cache.

Virologist Adam Gaertner (above) claims to know the process of ‘how the virus was created’ and includes ingredients, such as ‘HIV’, along with a recipe.

But could a bat prepare all that?

In a cave?

Something the experts might ponder in the days ahead.

Intervirion Fusion. HIV-luc(ACE2) (500 ng of p24) was mixed with 1,000 ng of p24 of HIV-gfp particles incorporating ASLV-A envelope, SARS-CoV S protein, or both envelopes in PBS at 4°C for 30 min to allow binding. Samples were raised to 37°C for 15 min to allow for conformational rearrangements. Virions were adjusted to the desired pH with 0.1 M citric acid. PBS, TPCK-trypsin (final concentration 10 μg/ml), CTSL, cathepsin B (CTSB) (final concentrations 2 μg/ml) or CTSL buffer alone was then added. Recombinant CTSL (R & D Systems) was preactivated by incubation for 15 min at 10 μg/ml in 50 mM Mes, pH 6.0, on ice. Recombinant CTSB (R & D Systems) was preactivated in 25 mM Mes, 5 mM DTT, pH 5.0, for 30 min at 25°C. After a 10-min incubation at 25°C, proteolysis was halted by the addition of 300 μl of DMEM10 containing leupeptin (25 μg/ml) and STI (75 μg/ml). Virions were then incubated at 37°C for 30 min to allow membrane fusion. 100 μl of the virion mixture was added in quadruplicate to HeLa-Tva cells pretreated for 1 h with leupeptin (20 μg/ml). The cells were spin-infected and incubated at 37°C for 5 h. The medium was replaced with fresh DMEM10 and the cells were assayed for luciferase activity 40 h later.

Well the Chinese people believe the virus was brought in by the Yanks at the military games in Wuhan.

As believable as the crap above.

    1. K. Cavan

And everyone in Malaysia thinks it came from the Wuhan Lab, coincidentally one of only two labs on the planet where Gain of Function experiments were being performed on Coronaviruses but maybe you, as spokesperson for the people of China, think that’s just a coincidence & we can rule out that possiblity. What convinced you? Was it a lack of incompatible phylogenetic relationships expressed in the genome or are you just talking through the wrong orifice? Again.

  3. Jonboy

    Absolutely nothing new here.

Mask have never been 100% effective, but they do help stop the spread.
Kristian Andersen says the virus could (potentially) have been engineered back in Jan 2020. That potentially is doing a lot of heavy lifting.
Adam Gaertner (veryvirology on Twitter) has been making extraordinary claims all along on Twitter, that Fauci ignored him does not seem suspicious to most people.

Here is the output of that further study:.

SARS-CoV-2 is the seventh coronavirus known to infect humans; SARS-CoV, MERS-CoV and SARS-CoV-2 can cause severe disease, whereas HKU1, NL63, OC43 and 229E are associated with mild symptoms6. Here we review what can be deduced about the origin of SARS-CoV-2 from comparative analysis of genomic data. We offer a perspective on the notable features of the SARS-CoV-2 genome and discuss scenarios by which they could have arisen. Our analyses clearly show that SARS-CoV-2 is not a laboratory construct or a purposefully manipulated virus.

      1. K. Cavan

Nice one, Cian, a ”study” published on Paddy’s Day, 2020, ten days BEFORE our first Lockdown in Ireland, by a private company founded by member number 2,126,353 of the Nazi Party, that actually lifts it’s opening paragraph from Wikipedia’s original Coronavirus page. Even that’s been updated, by now.

    2. K. Cavan

600 Coronaviruses, side by side, can fit through the gaps in the weave of high quality t-shirt cotton & two layers of that are more effective than disposable ”surgical” masks. Masks cannot stop the spread of a Coronavirus, Social Distancing, unless it’s 24 feet, cannot stop the spread of a Coronavirus, Lockdowns, if anything, cause it to spread more effectively, as Coronaviruses transmit more efficiently indoors. All this nonsense was made up by politicians & their PR gurus, to scare you into believing there was a Deadly Cold about, it worked on the more gullible, the more obedient & those who watch the evening news and swear by every word.

      1. Formerly known as @ireland.com

“Lockdowns, if anything, cause it to spread more effectively, as Coronaviruses transmit more efficiently indoors.”

I think the idea is that you don’t spend time indoors with random people. Lockdowns work. Melbourne went from 700 a day to zero.

    3. K. Cavan

When you exhale while masked, the air exits your lungs & is deflected around the mask, rather than going straight ahead. So, if you’re a surgeon who’s just opened up someone’s chest to do a bypass, it’s effective for that air not to go straight ahead, where the patient’s open chest is. Even with the masks, almost every surgery patient will acquire infections in theatre. If you’re crazy enough to try to stop the spread of a virus in your local supermarket, masks won’t help, all the air from your lungs ends up floating in the supermarket, anyway. So if you’re planning on performing surgery, wear a mask, that’s what they were invented for, otherwise forget them. If you’re coughing & sneezing, they can be slightly effective but if you’re coughing & sneezing, you’re not asymptomatic. Masks are a PR exercise to promote the idea that we’re in a pandemic, not a health measure, exactly the same as distancing & lockdown, just Show-business. The masks are pointless & most of the people promoting them know it, they just think you’re all compliant idiots when you’ve been terrified. They have a point.

Broadsheet once again takes things out of context, it’s embarressing and risible how Broadsheet continues to promote anti-covid nonsense.

    https://www.factcheck.org/2020/05/outdated-fauci-video-on-face-masks-shared-out-of-context/

“On April 3, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reversed its earlier position on the use of face masks during the COVID-19 pandemic and announced that it was now recommending that people should wear face coverings in public, citing new studies on the transmission of the virus that causes COVID-19.

“We now know from recent studies that a significant portion of individuals with coronavirus lack symptoms (‘asymptomatic’) and that even those who eventually develop symptoms (‘pre-symptomatic’) can transmit the virus to others before showing symptoms,” the CDC said in its announcement. “In light of this new evidence, CDC recommends wearing cloth face coverings in public settings where other social distancing measures are difficult to maintain (e.g., grocery stores and pharmacies) especially in areas of significant community-based transmission.”

Despite the new guidance, dubious Facebook pages and groups — some of which advocate alternative medicines, conspiracy theories and anti-vaccination messages — have been recently circulating an outdated recommendation on the use of face masks. The pages are sharing a March 8 video clip from CBS’ “60 Minutes” showing Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, saying: “There’s no reason to be walking around with a mask.”

C’mon Broadsheet grow up and get back to what you do that is good instead of being a mouth piece for anti-vaxxers and anti-covid non-science (nonsense)

    1. Micko

“ citing new studies on the transmission of the virus that causes COVID-19.”

      Cool. Cool…

      Any links?

And do they take into account the fact that in the real world most people haven’t washed their masks in yonks, don’t keep them in those little plastic bags and have been carrying them around in their pockets along with their change and mobile phones right next to their sweaty nuts for months.

No, not exactly following the WHO guidelines then ;)

Security theatre. Make belief. Just giving you something to do.

      Clownworld

      1. Nigel

‘No, not exactly following the WHO guidelines then’

Yes, your credible scientific study of ‘most people’ has proven this beyond a doubt.

        1. Micko

          No links then? Ok cool

Do you wash your mask after every use and keep it in a plastic bag?

          Actually. I know you do.

          You’re the type.

          1. Micko

            Read this.

The gov have extended their “emergency powers.”

You’re going to be wearing a mask as long as they want you to. Enjoy it and… eh…stay safe.

Unless you go for that experimental spine replacement surgery of course. ;)

          2. Nigel

Yes, they’ve extended emergency powers because the pandemic isn’t over just yet. Now you can extend your emergency question dodging and reading incomprehension powers.

          3. Micko

            You are cracked man

The government could do anything they like and you’d convince yourself it was a good idea.

I can’t wait to see what you agree with next.

You’re literally one of the best sources of entertainment I’ve had during the pandemic

Like a nodding plastic dog in a car. :0)

          4. Nigel

I hate to tell you, most of that’s not me, it’s the cracked version of me you have in your head confirming all your biases.

          5. Micko

            Ah ye know what Nigel.

Sure all this back and forth ain’t helping either of us. It’s mad sure.

Let me take back that “entertaining me” jab and say that some of my good pals fall into that same entertainment category.

Lads that we just like to have a back and forth of opinions with each other.

So fair play. You’re an aul git, but you’re a consistent git ;)

        2. K. Cavan

93 people in hospital with Covid-19, is that a Pandemic, Nigel? When will it stop being a Pandemic? What’s your magic number? When the Flu gets called Covid next Winter, will you believe it? Will you support eternal lockdowns, because Sars02 is out there now, forever & there will always be people infected with it in hospitals around the world, it’s never, ever going away. We actually know the answer to when the Pandemic will end, though, it’s when the economies of the developed world have been entirely collapsed, when more people have died from the effects of lockdown than the virus, when the utterly deliberate & utterly uneccessary destruction of our societies is complete & The Great Rest is implimented. Why do you support this evil, Nigel? You don’t seem to be an evil man, just misguided & mistaken but I’d still put you on trial, there’s no excuse for the damage you’re aiding & abetting. None.

          1. Nigel

’93 people in hospital with Covid-19, is that a Pandemic’

It might be the end of the current and hopefully final wave of the pandemic in this country.

    2. K. Cavan

You’re very down on ”Anti-covid” stuff, Joe. I think you’ll find most people are generally against all forms of Viral and even Chronic disease. Are you ”Pro-Covid” yourself? C’mon Joe, ”grow up & get back to what you do that is good”, whatever that is & leave other people to make up their own minds. Just glue yourself to the TV, they have all the Fear Porn & Fake Science you clearly desire & no ”dubious” types disagreeing with what you’ve been told to think.

  5. Django O'Reilly

A highly infectious, potentially life-threatening disease spreads rapidly around the globe.

Broadsheet would like if no preventative measures are taken, including the wearing of protective masks, societal lockdowns, and vaccines. Broadsheet would prefer if it was just left to burn through society. To hell with those who will die, not just as a direct result of the disease, but the countless others who would be denied medical attention because of collapsed healthcare systems.

Why? Ask yourself why Broadsheet and their ilk would have preferred this outcome. Or maybe Broadsheet will tell us?

        1. E'Matty

Keep it up Bodger. Don’t let the dribblers get you down. You’re doing Trojan work and are a beacon of independent reporting in a sea of cuck PR men for power.

          1. Nigel

Why not? Every other aspect of your personas are being shaped by alt-right edgleords.

    1. Bodger

Django, you have the entire media to meet all your fear porn needs. I’m sorry I cannot satisfy you.

      1. Django O'Reilly

Oh come on, that’s a shameful cop out not befitting a man of reason such as your good self. Why would you have preferred the alternative outcome, the bodies piled high option?

        1. Bodger

Django, I believe it was no more deadlier than the flu. In fact, in my view, it was the flu, hyped for reasons too nefarious, evil and woo to go into here.

          1. millie bobby brownie

By all means, Bodger. Plenty of readers have asked you to share your reasoning, and you have demurred on every occasion.

Surely you owe your readers justification for your stance beyond reasons too nefarious, evil and woo to go into here.

          2. Bodger

millie, the site would collapse under the sheer weight of ridicule and snark that might ensue. I don’t want to risk it. For everyone’s sake.

          3. Django O'Reilly

Again with the cowardly evasion. Meanwhile, I can’t believe my housemate, Suzanne, who works in an Intensive Care Unit in Dublin, has been in on the hype all along, she seems like a genuinely good person. Or maybe those patients she saw dying from it were just crisis actors … And my 59-year-old aunt must have pretended to die from it … it was just a flu, I feel so silly for being duped.

          4. Django O'Reilly

There you go Millie, Bodger J Pym does not have enough conviction to defend their position, and thinks their position might be ridiculous. Why do we keep coming here to listen to unsubstantiated drivel…

          5. Bodger

Django, the first rule I learned in Tin Foil Hat Club was never attempt to wake anyone up.

          6. E'Matty

@Millie and Co, you expect Bodger to explain the complexity and reality of the world to you in a comment which really explains just how delusional and ignorant you all are. It’s not Bodgers fault you all have such childlike innocence in your understanding of the world and believe the billionaire class and upper echelons of global power really really care about you and your family. Bodger clearly comes from a well educated background, like myself, and we are clearly better acquainted with the psychology of power and the mindset of those who occupy the corridors of power. You actually believe they see the world as you do. You couldn’t be more wrong. I suspect you have never actually spent much time around the powerful…

          7. Nigel

Bodger assured me that proof would emerge that Biden stole the US election then dodged any kind of follow-up. Bodger has form.

          8. Nigel

Okay, though holding onto the proof for this long probably qualifies as obstruction of justice.

          9. Django O'Reilly

Ah E’Matty… bless your innocence, you little angel! And Bodger, yes, of course it is, it’s the best damn rule there is when asked to defend your position. Well done, you! Well done big brave Bodger!

          10. Bodger

Django, for example, you believe men played golf on the moon. I am a high-degree conspiratard. It would get ugly very quickly.

          11. Nigel

There’s probably a more sensitive word for people who base their current understanding of reality on the existence of evidence that has not yet been made available to them, or anyone.

          12. Django O'Reilly

            Bravely bold Sir Bodger
            Rode forth from Broadsheet.
He was not afraid to lie,
            Oh brave Sir Bodge.
He was not at all afraid
To see people die in nasty ways.
Brave, brave, brave, brave Sir Bodger.
He was not in the least bit scared
            For them to suffocate.
            Or to die alone,
            Or live with scarred lungs.
He bravely spouted his dangerous propaganda
Anything to create engagement among his dwindling audience,
            Hiding behind his pseudonym
            Brave Sir Bodger.

          13. ce

“So does the Frankfurt School” – join us on BS for the erudite put-down hour… touché

          14. Nigel

If you’re just going to list random institutions that have a lot to answer for we’ll be here all day.

          15. millie bobby brownie

            @Ematty
Disregarding the slurry that comprises most of your commentary here, I think that Bodger owes his readers an explanation for some of the narrative he has been pushing – especially since he has been asked multiple times, fobbing readers and commenters off with vague answers, similar to the comments posted above.

By refusing to answer, by deflecting in the manner he does, I actually think he’s doing himself a huge disservice, leaving himself open to hypocrisy and double standards. For someone who has championed transparency in the media for so many years, it’s very disappointing then when Bodger refuses to elaborate on his position. And I should note that this is not the first time this has happened (I refer you to ‘Pizzagate’ for one example).

This has nothing to do with my feelings on Covid-19, vaccines or any of that. It has nothing to do with anyone’s intelligence, or lack thereof, nor does it have anything to do with education or who you know. Maybe you like to think it does because it makes you feel better about yourself, I don’t know.

            @Bodger
I’m disappointed, but not surprised. I do think you should take the opportunity to clarify your position, for the reasons outlined above. Not everyone will agree with you, of course, but I think you risk looking like a hypocrite at worst and a shit-stirrer at best by not doing so. Obviously this is just one person’s opinion, so feel free to disregard.

          16. General Public

The usual crying bully tactics raking up tripe from 4 or 5 years ago.

Bodger owes you and the so called “readers” who can’t accept his position, nothing.

If you don’t like his stance, there’s plenty of other safe space blogs and sites which cowtoe daily.

          17. Nigel

‘If you don’t like his stance, there’s plenty of other safe space blogs and sites which cowtoe daily.’

You make it sound more like you and Bodger and the rest need the safe space, tbh.

          1. Unreal

It’s great when Bodger is playful like this though.
The best day ever was when he savaged Nigel

          2. Nigel

Did that happen around the time Trump released the proof that Biden stole the election? Or was ‘wouldn’t you be happier commenting at Journal.ie’ supposed to be a savaging?

          3. Unreal

I do remember Nigel it was persistent and personalised, almost churlish, hangover in the middle of the day sort of stuff, carry on old chap

          4. Daisy Chainsaw

Now that Trump’s blog has closed down because nobody was bothered reading it, how will we know when he’s taken down the secret cabal of paedophiles?

        2. K. Cavan

So, Mr. O’Reilly, you have narrowed the possibilities down to two, Lockdown & all the rest of the brutal Chinese response had to be copied or bodies would be piled high? How do you know that? Crystal Ball? Tarot Cards? RTE? I-Ching? Where do you acquire such knowledge of what would have, could have, might have happened? Got the numbers for the next lottery?

      2. asitsaysinthepapers

You’re quite happy to ramp up the ‘fear porn’ around vaccines though.

        1. K. Cavan

Experimental medical treatments & drugs are dangerous, that’s why we always test them before approval for general use. Anyone who isn’t fearful of them is an idiot. There are many, many drugs, available without prescription, which can quite easily kill you, the prescription ones are even more dangerous. A drug like Thalidomide was perfectly harmless, to the vast majority of people. mRNA is at it’s most active when an embryo is forming in utero, it is the communication method used in building our bodies, we mess with it by using it inappropriately, for a mild illness, at our peril.

      3. White Dove

I don’t think Bodger owes Millie or anyone else an explanation.

He is entitled to express his views, which he does politely and kindly, more than can be said for those who disagree with him. He posts every 15 minutes bringing those who visit this site a lot of enjoyment. Unlike most news sites, he treats his commenters with respect and consideration – seeing how they treat him back, some might say too much respect and consideration, but I think his tolerance and patience will stand to his credit in the long run.

        A couple of points.
        1. Whether Pizzagate is true or not, the widespread trafficking of minors in the political and showbiz worlds is a known fact.
        2. There are a lot of unanswered questions about the origins of COVID, and particularly its timing.
        3. Concerns about the US election and use of voting machines have yet to be properly addressed.
        4. We are being asked to take an enormous amount on faith with regard to the effectiveness and safety of vaccines.
        5. Current media coverage on Trump and vaccines is in lock-step with no counterarguments (even of the devil’s advocate sort) being put.

I think it’s time for Bodger to be treated with more respect and valued and those who don’t want to do so and keep needling him nonetheless should post under their own names. After all, we all know who Bodger really is, as many of the personalised attacks on him show. And he’s someone with a great CV, who has been consistently ahead in everything he has done during his life. We’re lucky to still have him involved in Irish media.

Stop the sniping, and the neediness about explanations. Value this site properly, or go and comment somewhere else. If you stay, the least you can do is treat Bodger with a modicum of courtesy.

        1. K. Cavan

Well said, White Dove. I would add that the hysterical, irrational & aggressive nature of the responses from Covid Cultists reveals far too much about their personalities & attitudes, not to mention an obvious internal panic as they see the farce they’ve committed themselves to, the destruction of our societies & economies, our very civilization under threat, humanity losing all rationality & sense of proportion, all for one of the Common Cold viruses, a type we’ve survived a hundred times before, over a period of a millenium. It’s ironic that Safetyism becomes so dangerous, once manipulated by the psychopaths who run the Corporate World & it’s subordinate political system.

        2. Nigel

          1. Pizzagate was not true, it was an ugly, nasty political smear that evolved into a bizarre and extreme conspiracy theory that has nothing to do with genuine cases of child abuse and sex trafficking, but which is willing to use genuine cases alongside completely fabricated suppositions and allegations to attack political enemies.
          2. Yes, experts are still trying to trace the origins of covid.
          3. Evidence of significant electoral fraud has yet to be presented.
          4. No more faith than we have in other medicies, vaccines and procedures.
          5. It’s not lockstep if it’s the truth.

  6. Covid19000

I think it’s great that he’s released his emails. The minutes from the Nphet meetings and their correspondence are not up to date. The latest minutes are from 22/04/21 & 28/04/21 released on 31/05/21. A seven member secretariat takes over a month to get minutes done.

Perhaps broadsheet should attempt some journalism and push for similar transparency with Nphet and it’s deliberative processes with the HSE, DOH as well as cabinet.

      1. Covid19000

Ah apologies for the tone. I’ve read your blog for years, I think you should help push for transparency and scrutiny over this government and Nphet.

        1. K. Cavan

There will be No Transparency, nor any Scrutiny, over this matter, rather there will be secrecy, cover-ups, lies & deceit, propaganda, you know, business as usual for Ireland’s disgusting political class & their Media Whores.

      1. K. Cavan

”A paranoiac like you absolutely could!” Finally, you make some sense, you would need to be fairly crazy to make this up, you’d need to be batsh*t crazy to actually believe in it.

These are two tweets, put out on the same day, from Candace Owens:

      1. “[Naomi Osaka]’s starting to get soooooo annoying. Just quit tennis and become a full time activist.
You make millions and are now complaining (again) because you think you’re a special snowflake that shouldn’t have to do press conferences because they are a form of “mental abuse”.”

      2. “Naomi Osaka made the right decision. Mental illness is serious and it is always an act of courage to step away to deal with personal issues. Emphasis on the word personal. It’s becoming too fashionable for one person’s experience to transform into a demand for everybody else…”

Candace Owens is trash. I don’t think it will come as a surprise to anyone with an ounce of intelligence on this blog that you are a fan.

Candace Owens is trash- she’ll be releasing a house track soon so- please make it 120 BPM?

      2. K. Cavan

Ah, now, you’ve easily got an ounce & a half of intelligence, Mr. O’Reilly. It’s there for all to see.

    2. K. Cavan

A recent survey puts Wokist women at double the rate of mental illness of centrist or conservative women, maybe Candace Owens appeals by being sane, believing men can’t become women, etc and laughing at the rest of the Woke nonsense?

  7. Point

Wall to wall auld lads distracting themselves from reality.

Death is coming, your job isn’t great and your love life’s DOA.

Stop trying to take everyone down with you.

Thinking you know differently isn’t a personality, unless you are making money at it.

It’s now becoming widely accepted that the spike protein is toxic, after all, viruses make us sick but they do not exist to do so, they only want to reproduce. Every virus has evolved to infect specific cells in the body, the cells must be Permissive, in that the virion can enter the cell & Susceptible, in that the cell has a Ribosome which can read the mRNA instructions the virus releases inside the cell to create copies of it’s genome. With mRNA injections, cells in your arm and, should the contents leak into your bloodstream, other parts of your body which never encounter a Coronavirus, present the spike protein to the immune system, a spike that’s on the wrong cells in the wrong part of the body, cells that would never, normally, present that spike protein. What could possibly go wrong? We’ll know by 2023, I suppose.

Reading the insensitive nature of most comments on this thread is like performing a C-section on a dam.

Live and let live – more to the point, be nice.

Unfortunately, Steph, the Covid Cult is a fundamentalist branch of the Church of Lost Causes, they get very annoyed when people have opinions that have not been approved by the government & the media. They know, deep inside that they’re right & everyone else is far right.

    2. Unreal
