Your coverage of the vaccination side of this pandemic is becoming obsessive. There has to be other stories you can cover for a change?

    1. freewheeling

Stick at it Bodger. Someone needs to keep highlighting that which other media won’t even cover.

    2. E'Matty

don’t suppose you’ve looked at any other media lately? Broadsheet is largely in line with others on Covid. It is the biggest news story since WW2. Is it just that you don’t like the fact Bodger deviates from the group think that pervades all other media and society in general?

The script changes weekly on jabs. Nobody can make an informed decision. Those that are moving ahead with getting jabbed are not informed properly and will regret it.

      1. dav

The funny thing with these anti vaxers – they’ll take or have taken the jab – then they devote their time into trying to convince others not to. A viral dog in the manger attitude towards their fellow humans.

Who changed that? Science changed that! As science advances and progresses expect to see change in recommendations and treatments.

If Broadsheet Bodger did science they would still be using leeches to suck blood and dousing themselves with holy water to ward off the bad spirits that make people sick with coronavirus

Seriously, I think as 99.99% per cent of reasonably intelligent people understand that we are fighting a pandemic and thankfully making inroads in destroying it while saving lives, the Broadsheets Bodgers of the world and its support for anti vaxxers and for crap conspiracy theories, is realising it has zero influence except for the fraction of a percentage of the deluded few, consequently Broadsheet Bodger is becoming more laughably hysterical by the day.

People like *you* that don’t understand “recovery rates”?

        Ireland: 269,495 positive cases;
        Ireland: 4,979 deaths.

Q: What percentage of those cases survived?
        A: 98.15%

        1. Micko

          Oh… really? Ok.

You think there’s ONLY been 269,495 cases in Ireland?

But it’s a disease that were constantly told “you may not even know you have it” :-)

Even the WHO estimate that cases are at least 10 times higher than detected.

Seriously dude. Your arguments are crumbling around you daily.

          CFR vs IFR

          1. Cian

I thought that we had PCR “casedemic” that was full of false-positives and was overcounting things.

You now saying that the Case numbers are under-counted? by a factor of 10.

            *takes out calculator*
            – Ireland has really had 2.6million cases (54% of the population)
            – the world has really had 1.8 billion cases (24% of the world population)
that seems, unlikely. Have you source to “WHO estimate that cases are at least 10 times higher than detected.”

Either way, you said “recovered”. If you are asymptomatic you have nothing to “recover” from. You can only recover from an illness..

          2. SOQ

WRONG- you can be infected with SARS-Cov-2, AND subsequently be immune without having symptoms. I know of several people who have good anti body counts despite ever knowing they had it.

There is no such thing as asymptomatic Covid-19 of course- just SARS-Cov-2 viral infection and then, an unfortunate group who go on to develop the disease called CoVid-19- but even then, most of them only have minor symptoms.

Do try to keep up eh?

          3. Cian

Sure Cian, here’s an article from October.
October? Do you think anything might have changed since October?

          4. Micko

“Do you think anything might have changed since October?”

What are you talking about? Are you losing it man? ha ha ha!

Sure of course MORE people have got it since October!

And since we’re not all elfin dead – it’s brought the IFR down to an even smaller number!

You’re falling apart dude. Let it go.

        2. Cui Bono?

Cian, that’s only confirmed cases. There’s obviously 1000s (maybe millions) of cases that have not been confirmed especially in early 2020 when it first came to Ireland.

Also, the deaths include people who died of other causes – average age last I checked was 83 with over 2 comorbidities – some were not even tested to see if they had covid.

    1. Cui Bono?

The WHO changed the criteria for declaring a pandemic so that not even one person needs to die for there to be a pandemic.

Bodgers doing a great job showing the rational side of the “debate”. After all a virus with an average IFR of only 0.23% and less than 0.05% for under 70s is not something to fear or shutdown society.

      1. Cian

Are you suggesting that Covid isn’t a pandemic?
Are you suggesting that millions haven’t died from Covid?

In your worldview what would would the IFR need to be to concerned or to shut down society??

        1. Cui Bono?

There was a pandemic but there clearly isn’t a pandemic anymore.

Millions have died from covid over 2 separate seasons but the number is definitely lower than the 3.8 million because we have counted people who died of other causes.

We should never shut down society ever. It’s up to every individual to decide on the level of risk they wish to live with and no one has the right to shutdown another’s business.

If the IFR was 100% people would lock themselves away and rightly so but it’s still a choice for them to make. Authoritarian rule is never good.

          1. Cian

Ireland counted people as Covid that may not have been, we were very “generous” with our definitions.
But worldwide most countries have undercounted Covid deaths, and many countries vastly undercounted.

        2. Cui Bono?

“But worldwide most countries have undercounted Covid deaths, and many countries vastly undercounted.”

          Nonsense.

Cian – the world’s population increased in 2020 – wake up!

and Leo wants young people to get the AZ vaccine to battle the Delta Variant. This despite the fact we know it has a risk of severe blood clots for young people, who are at almost no risk from Covid, and the AZ vaccine is the least effective against the variant he claims to be trying to address. It looks more like they just want to get these vaccines into as many of the cattle as fast as possible before the curtain comes down. Need to cull as many of the herd as possible for the global transformation to be truly successful.

    Interestingly, from BBC news: https://www.bbc.com/news/health-57525891
Of 806 people infected with the Delta variant who ended up hospital in England between 1 February and 14 June 2021: 527 (65%) people were unvaccinated (implying 35% were vaccinated)
As of 14 June, there have been 73 deaths in England of people who were confirmed as having the Delta variant and who died within 28 days of a positive test, and of these: 34 (47%) were unvaccinated (implying 53% were vaccinated, WTF???).

    1. George

The AstraZeneca vaccine is not being offered to young people in Ireland. The people who go the first dose will get the second and then soon Ireland will stop administering the AstraZeneca vaccine.
