Saturday.

O’Connell Street, Dublin 1.

A Pro-Life protest outside the GPO, one of 55 local ‘Rallies for Life’ that took place on Saturday urging the public and TDs to ‘Rethink Abortion’.

Government figures published last week showed 13,243 abortions were carried out since the Eighth Amendment was abolished; 6,577 in 2020, of which 6,455 were carried out in pregnancies of less than 12 weeks.

So the vast bulk of terminations are less than 12 weeks and by pill. I cannot help but think were the macabre 8th still in place, a lot of these women would have likely travelled to the UK for later terminations. Strange how “pro-lifers” never want to admit most abortions take place in the first two+ months.

I was pro choice , had a couple of babies and changed my mind. It is baby killing , not cell death. It seems where we are stuck on in the pro life , pro choice debate is , pro life = it’s a baby at conception whereas pro choice = not a baby at conception, but we haven’t really decided where the end point is either.
But it is killing babies and no amount of mental gymnastics or unfortunate circumstances will change that.

the same pondlife this website promotes on an almost daily basis with their anti vax freedom BS. But of course irony is something their mothers used to do for them

No masks, no social distancing similar to the ratlicker rally on Saturday… Not very “pro life” behaviour.

it must be tough when ya don’t understand numbers. thats not an uptake in abortions, its less people going abroad for them.

“Rare” was never part of Repeal in Ireland, it was “Free Safe Legal”. After the legislation passed, we campaigned for local access so people would be able to access abortion services without the need to travel to a city or particular hospital.

I must have missed the “pro life” campaigns for comprehensive, non religious sex education, free contraceptives for all and better post natal/early years supports because if they want abortions to be “Rare”, you do it by reducing unwanted pregnancies. But we all know they’re not pro life, they’re merely anti choice.

You got there before me, not once was it promised that it would be a rare occurrence. These are now our statistics instead of BPAS having to give them to us annually. “They lied” is a load of BS, it was never on the cards in the first place

What about the masterbators? Every sperm is sacred!

Do we have to keep going over old debates again and again?

We spent the guts of 35 year repealing the 8th, literally from the day of the referendum. It’s only fair, I suppose, to let the antis have their Repeal Repeal folly. It’s not like they’re doing anything else to reduce unwanted pregnancies.

Why should they take responsibility for a situation these girls got themselves in. Dress it up how you like it is baby killing , people need to take responsibility for their actions

If you know of anyone killing babies, please take that information straight to the Gardai.
