A Kick In The Asana

This morning.

Further to Roy Keane blaming yoga for his “worst performance” during a podcast with football pundit Gary Neville…

…Rajan Zed, President of Universal Society of Hinduism, states:

“Passing blame of one’s crummy performance to highly beneficial yoga is quite out of line as many scientific/academic/clinical/etc. studies have revealed the multiple benefits yoga provide.

“President Michael Higgins recently reportedly commented that he would like to see yoga taught to school children across Ireland. According to US National Institutes of Health; yoga may help one to feel more relaxed, be more flexible, improve posture, breathe deeply, and get rid of stress. A research study by Trinity College Dublin indicated: Meditative and pranayama practices result in attentional, emotional, and physiological enhancements.

Keane needs to wake up and wholeheartedly re-incorporate highly beneficial yoga in his life. He was clearly doing a disservice to himself if not fully availing the valuable opportunities yoga provide.”

Namaste.

Small bow.

FIGHT!

I wonder if the Roy Kent character from Ted Lasso is based on Roy Keane. Has to be, right?!

Yoga makes me furious, at the end of a session and reaching my inner goddess I end up needing to Hoover violently or go for a run or I feel like battering someone, it’s not for everyone

I switch off and get calm in motion, it’s why running is my bag or hiking works too, not everyone is wired the same, yoga frustrates me, too much talking not enough action ;)

I’ve tried and found the pseudo religiosity and multiple styles of yoga a terrible chore, and the mindfulness of it complete horse plop. If you want to work on strengthening tendons, core etc make the switch to Pilates, the atheists version of yoga. No horse plop, does what it says on the tin etc.

on a serious note, we are big monkies, like it or not we are not even very nice monkies, we didn’t get were we are by hugging trees, aggression is natural it’s part of our make up, it’s how you channel it that matters, denying it is IMO not healthy.

On a serious note – don’t let Redundant Proofreader see how you spelled the plural of monkey.

    Yoga spiritualists are very pushy.
    It is not for everyone.
The idea from Higgins that schoolchildren should be taught yoga is equally pushy and is ill-informed. The physical dimension of yoga is pretty great but many of the yoga rituals attempts to free the mind of thoughts – who wants their child to be devoid of thoughts? It can be detrimentally mind-numbing for those who need to perform, as is the case here. A certain amount of stress is good for you as it releases adrenaline. There are better stress management techniques for chronic stress-sufferers which don’t push out stress drivers from your mind temporarily, but teach you how to actively deal with them and reduce their harm.

We were with Roy on Saipan and we’re with him on this.

He said it was a beautiful island to visit.

        Only messin’.
Look up the ‘Saipan Incident’ on the interwebs.

You mean Carl Hoffman’s account of the ferocious and bloody battle that divided nations?
            Pales in comparison.

So tired of this never ending Keane love in “He’s gas”, “He says it like it is”, “Greatest ever”. He’s a knob who used to be a good footballer and a dreadful bully of a manager. End of.

  5. Nullzero

To any rational person Keane tried Yoga having not done it before and it went a bit pear shaped. He wasn’t saying yoga is a waste of time.
