Why is @SuperValuIRL objecting to a school cycle route in Deansgrange? We’re talking about a cycle route specifically designed to enable *children* to cycle to *school*. https://t.co/5LdTethBlz

Who’s the “we” in this not needing an extra route? It’s almost as if there’s an assumption that people on bikes magically can fly to bike lanes.
How can kids cycling get to Newtownpark ave schools from near rochestown ave? There’s no safe bike lanes from Deansgrange to Newtown

This afternoon.
Cyclists react to Supervalu’s objection to Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council’s plan for two way cycle-lane on Deansgrange Road resulting in a one way north to south for cars.
Yesterday: Controversy Over New Proposed Cycle Lane (Newstalk)
SuperValu is a business. What would they give a fupp about cycle lanes. More people drive to a supermarket than cycle (And a driver spends a lot more than a cyclist).
People who cycle and walk buy less in an individual trip, but visit more often and buy more overall. Retailers are invariably the biggest winners when cycling infrastructure is built, with profits rising.
Unfortunately, another side effect is a rise in home prices in areas where it’s built.
Ah if only there was national road 30 sec drive away with 4 lanes wide that would be ideal for all the cars
That will require a couple of extra lanes to facilitate all the diverted traffic being rerouted up to it for the sake of a handful of cyclists.
Unless they have a storeroom accessible at the back, I presume this is about access needed for the Super Value store’s deliveries by truck
They’d give a lot to the community if they had all their truck deliveries overnight, not clogging up streets during the day.
