“UK nears trade deal with NZ” – Imagine all the extra British goods that Kiwis will buy above what they already buy. Not much.

    1. Bitnboxy

I can’t wait for the fanfare from Truss when this “trade deal” is signed in the coming weeks and the gushing about the economic benefit, a whopping. 01% of GDP, making up for Brexit…being drowned out by raucous laughter. Global Britain!

I wonder what will be the detail around NZ lamb? I’m sensing a few UK farmers might just be interested.

  2. f_lawless

A perfect example of the insidious role corporate media has played all along through this whole Covid response debacle. Instead of really holding the government to account and asking the hard questions, it’s actively helping manufacture public consent to an unprecedented expansion of state power over the lives of ordinary citizens.

“Three Weeks To Freedom! “Attendances to Increase Rapidly” “Getting Closer to Normality”, etc is just an echo of government spin (aka propaganda). Total gaslighting. In reality what the government currently have planned is not good news for Irish society. It’s a move to normalise and consolidate the restrictive and discriminatory vaccine surveillance system by further expanding upon it.

If only enough of the public had sufficient foresight to see the direction this is leading and to stay away in protest… not much evidence of that from what I see around me

          1. jungleman

It is for people who lost their employment due to the measures taken to tackle the pandemic. It is no longer open to new applicants because the economy is opening back up and it will be wound down over the coming months. This makes perfect sense. Why would they maintain the subsidy when the problem it addresses is gone? The dole will be there for those who chose not to go back to work.

          2. GiggidyGoo

You’ve answered your own question then haven’t you?
i.e. “It is for people who lost their employment due to the measures taken to tackle the pandemic”
            Kinda specific that.

          3. George

It is for people who lost employment *temporarily* due to the pandemic. If when Covid-19 restrictions are fully gone the jobs don’t return then they unfortunately move to a normal unemployment payment.

          4. GiggidyGoo

Not disagreeing with you George. Tarzan’s question was ‘Why would the PUP continue if there is no restriction on businesses operating’
He ended up answering it himself.

      1. Tom J

The government is made up of two opposing parties, so the large opposition parties are already in government.

    1. SOQ

Totally agree f_lawless. They have timed this to give a bit of a break in order to ramp the numbers up, which is inevitable once things opens up, then full lockdown again.

And despite the fact there is no scientific basis for them, the passports are set to stay. Interesting though how there is no word of how that is all going these days?

Meanwhile, the propaganda for six monthly vaccines will become widespread, with all sorts of variant rubbish.

The only glimmer of hope is that once the FDA approve the Pfizer vaccine, they apparently have only 14 days to come up with a full list of ingredients. So we will soon know if there is any truth to these graphene oxide claims.

      1. Cian

        Fake News.

The full list of ingredients has been available since they released the vaccines.

        Stop lying SOQ.

        1. SOQ

Well the accusation is that there is something being held back because it is a trade secret but upon full approval, they have to list all ingredients.

I am very much on the fence on this one so- time will tell.

          1. Man On Fire

And you know what graphene oxide looks like when it’s compounded, and how many ppm there are in each vial, yeah george?

          2. Cian

            More pathetic anti-gay conspiracy junk.

The full list of ingredients has been available since they released the vaccines.

          1. Cian

            Comirnaty contains
            • The active substance is COVID-19 mRNA Vaccine. After dilution, the vial contains 6 doses
of 0.3 mL with 30 micrograms mRNA each.
            • The other ingredients are:
            − ((4-hydroxybutyl)azanediyl)bis(hexane-6,1-diyl)bis(2-hexyldecanoate) (ALC-0315)
            − 2-[(polyethylene glycol)-2000]-N,N-ditetradecylacetamide (ALC-0159)
            − 1,2-Distearoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine (DSPC)
            − cholesterol
            − potassium chloride
            − potassium dihydrogen phosphate
            − sodium chloride
            − disodium phosphate dihydrate
            − sucrose
            − water for injections

            https://www.ema.europa.eu/documents/product-information/comirnaty-epar-product-information_en.pdf

          2. GiggidyGoo

            according to the FDA,

            mRNA
Lipids (including ((4-hydroxybutyl)azanediyl)bis(hexane-6,1-diyl)bis(2-hexyldecanoate), 2 [(polyethylene glycol)-2000]-N,N-ditetradecylacetamide, 1,2-Distearoyl-sn-glycero-3- phosphocholine, and cholesterol)
            Potassium chloride
            Monobasic potassium phosphate
            Sodium chloride
            Dibasic sodium phosphate dehydrate
            Sucrose
            ===================

You’ll notice the part about Lipids. There is no conclusive list of lipids. The word ‘including’ (which your linked list leaves out) tells us that there are other lipids not specified.

The list on your link doesn’t reflect the list on the FDA list.

Why is that? Same product but subtly different lists of ingredients.

The complete list of ingredients hasn’t been supplied.

          3. Cian

according to the FDA (link included)

COMIRNATY (COVID-19 Vaccine, mRNA) and the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine include the following ingredients:
            mRNA,
            lipids
            ((4-hydroxybutyl)azanediyl)bis(hexane-6,1-diyl)bis(2-hexyldecanoate),
            2 [(polyethylene glycol)-2000]-N,N-ditetradecylacetamide,
            1,2-Distearoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine, and
            cholesterol),
            potassium chloride,
            monobasic potassium phosphate,
            sodium chloride,
            dibasic sodium phosphate dihydrate,
            and sucrose

            https://www.fda.gov/media/144414/download

            same as the EMA list.

Oh, and the word “include” here means
‘comprise or contain as part of a whole’
“the price includes dinner, bed, and breakfast”

          4. GiggidyGoo

Way off the mark Cian. Specifying all of the ingredients would not use the word ‘including’ There isn’t any mention in your link of “the price..” of anything.

You may as well have written
“The price of dinner includes potatoes”

          5. GiggidyGoo

COMIRNATY contains a nucleoside-modified messenger RNA (mRNA) encoding the viral spike glycoprotein (S) of SARS-CoV-2 that is formulated in lipids including ((4- hydroxybutyl)azanediyl)bis(hexane-6,1-diyl)bis(2- hexyldecanoate), 2-(polyethylene glycol 2000)-N,N-ditetradecylacetamide, 1,2-distearoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine, and cholesterol.
            https://www.fda.gov/media/151733/download
That’s the most recent composition. You will note that b) (4)(UNII:) is mentioned as a component alongside actual named ingredients, with a lot of redactions where it is mentioned. Do we know what that is? Notably it’s missing from the list you and I supplied, but appears on the latest list.
So, what you (and I) supplied wasn’t a complete list. Proves my point then.

    2. eamonn

Indeed, to question the narrative is not acceptable.
not healthy at all, recent governments have plenty of form with running things in a way
that is not for the benefit of society at large – what should we expect from this hybrid govt – either the best of both worldviews, or the worst of both worldviews.
One thing they all share is a love of control for control sake.
      brighter days will come

    1. Cú Chulainn

31 counties supporting, but I think they’ll need something more than a bloody stump up their sleeves..

        1. Shayna

To be fair, a great game. I thought Niall Morgan was going to do a Maurice Fitzgerald, exactly the same spot. I love Kerry football, Mayo are great.. Although, come on Tyrone!

    1. V aka Frilly Keane

You can only “update” draft minutes of a meeting

If minutes are adopted they can’t get “updated”
      Not honestly anyway
Changes to previous minutes, like corrections say
Are recorded at another meeting and entered into another separate set of minutes for approval / adoption by the attending quorum
Same for changes to decisions made at previous meetings
These are recorded specifically into the record of the meeting in which the decision took place, which will include time date and who was in attendance, and who participated in a change to previous decisions

That’s why regulators, ie The Central Bank investigate minutes of Boards to track the decisions and contributions of Directors

      1. GiggidyGoo

Probably didn’t make it clear. Instead of “updating” i should have said “producing”. Last minutes I think were in May.

          1. GiggidyGoo

Whatever V. Minutes have to be produced / prepared before they can be released or circulated. They’ve done of the three since May as far as I can see.

      2. SOQ

Would there not be a best practice guide or rule as to how long minutes can remain open in draft V?

In my experience they have to be closed before the next meeting occurs- so that any action not completed is rolled over into the agenda for the next.

        1. V aka Frilly Keane

In ideal Governance structures and settings Sameoh

But it’s not unusual for two or three
Although more would be a stretch
Sets of draft minutes to be adopted at the same meeting (proposed seconded all in agreement and what have you)

          Many reasons for this
Corrections and confirmations going back and forth with the secretary/ scribe/ minute taker
          And securing a Quorum

The latter being a difficulty most Boards / Committees face regularly.
          Scheduling, Work, etc
But not the higher profile well fed and feathered State Boards it must be said
Same for the big ticket renumerations, like Banks

It’s also the reason most Boards would have their next meeting agreed within the minutes of their last meeting. “Date of next meeting” might even be an Agenda item

      1. chris

Yet Japan have just approved Invermectim as a treatment. It’s also listed as a WHO essential medicines for humans.

        1. V aka Frilly Keane

          Shur’ it always was Chris
Dr Jack Lambert himself told us on BS.tv it should be put into clinical trails before being written off entirely as a treatment for covid
          In long covid sufferers particularly

What Japan and other jurisdictions have approved is Ivermectin produced for human consumption
No effin’ way has any Health Service approved Ivermectin Horse Wormer for human consumption

          What I’m taking issue with,
And in fairness – I’ll be the first to to say tis none of my business what people want to consume
And all my arguements are wholly concerned around the promotion of Ivormectin by people who are not credentialed medical doctors, or even following a physical examination
And in many cases for profit with zero comeback or accountability
And before that they were trying to flog Hydochlorine whatyamacallit

          1. Mick MacMichael

She did not win many CU votes. Her ramblings here and her article in Village along with her accusations of the running of the overseeing of the CU gave her answer very quickly and very bluntly.
She left here in a huff and came back two weeks ago and quickly threatened to leave again.

          2. V aka Frilly Keane

Only ever here under my own name Sameoh – maybe Broadsheet Admin/ JR and Bodger need to tell you all this again, since it didn’t sink in the last time or the time before that

But it’s nice you’ve a new pal in to give you a dig out
It must be great knowing that Broadsheet will still supply ye with new logins to post slop about me

It’s actually sad that ye’re still resorting to that carry on to try and hold yere own
Like having me defamed, followed, videoed, stalked and engaging a local Q nut to deep dive wasn’t already enough

BTW everyone, I’ll come and go as I please
And if ye don’t like my posts comments and columns
Don’t f’n read them, they’re all easily spotted so easily swiped over

You see I actually do Free Speech – the real kind
Not the Faux Speech ye are so hard on for

Same for Corruption – I write about real actual Corruption, and Financial & Political malfeasance & Self Interest, as well as walk my talk
Not yere alt white conspiracy patriot rally versions that comes with collection buckets and healthcare advice

            It’s three years now
Three fing years since ye had the Frilly Keane column shuttered, and me doxxed
And had other columnists come at me from all sorts of venues, and under numerous logins
And it’s three years of easily 100 burner logins

And yere all still nowhere with it all, while yere early hero flag carriers have eaten themselves and ye with them

It’s no bloody wonder Sameoh you keep yourself in hidiing and anonymous
            Same for your troops
If yis can’t hold your own here, ye’d never survive the truth about yerselves in real life

      1. V aka Frilly Keane

        You’re yawning
Yawning while a bunch of nobodies and nothings, working under web fronts and scruffy set ups
Sell prescriptions to vulnerable sick people?

        And you’re yawning……

Selling prescriptions to sick and poor people

Well since they call themselves Patriots and insist they are Anti Corruption, then I’m dreading their version of “a crime against humanity”

        Keep yawning

        1. Man On Fire

Something.. Something.. Front line workers.. Something.. Something.. Far right.. Something..

          Yawn..

Go on GiggidyGums, get that GiggidyGut out and enjoy the last hurrah of summer! I just hope your, ahem, Wexford idyll, is well screened from passers-by – for their sakes!

      Chortle.

      1. GiggidyGoo

Scan the code Bitty, the kellys baby. Just out of the Kiddy Klub then, or have mummy and pops decided to leave you there for the day in order for them to get a bit a peace and quiet?

        Troll

        1. Bitnboxy

Oh dear – was it something I said mad auld lad GiggidyGums? Go on, grab a few rays and climb out from under that rock.

          Guffaw!

          1. Janet, dreams of an alternate universe

my first job was in a bed and breakfast that had a demented little poodle, it used to frantically ride all the cushions, to this day I can’t see a poodle without thinking pervert

    2. Micko

Indeed. I’m on Portmarnock beach at the mo.

      Lovely stuff.

Get out and enjoy it if ya havnt already

      1. Man On Fire

Up Mullins Hill in Killiney with the dog.

Beautiful views of Glenageary and Dun Laoghaire..

        1. Micko

Was that you going around shouting at people to get off your beach 10 mins ago?

I was gonna say hi but I bottled it ;)

          1. Rosette of Sirius

Yis might have see me today out on water so. I was waving. Was a very busy day out of Howth with nationals and club racing. Tomorrow too so keep an eye out…

  3. scottser

I have very mixed feelings about Ronaldo going back to united. I fear its an expensive, nostalgia-soaked mistake.

    1. goldenbrown

same here but sure what’s a bit more debt, wha?

also CR7 comes home with a very large amount of imminent dirty laundry

I’m fairly surprised he’s getting a job anywhere

        1. goldenbrown

yeah possibly, all publicity is good publicity (per lesson #1 at bunny carr school of communications)

I reckon myself that Man City did their research and didn’t fancy a second massive problem on their hands

          it’s some big gamble

  4. SOQ

Interesting developments up north. If this DUP decline continues then we are likely to see a more fractured unionist representation with UUP on the moderate side while TUV being more handline.

I am wondering what has triggered this mind. Is there one single event which has dropped them out of favour- or has there been a series?

    1. V aka Frilly Keane

Their recent financial statements might be a clue

My quick scan – they’re not in a position to fight an election
And even if they scrape a campaign together
In the event of a poor result, and you can put your last sky-diver on that
Their going concern could be in doubt
(IMO is should be now but I am always overly prudent when relying on strategic promises)

  5. SOQ

Huge Freedom marches again in London, Berlin and Paris today again. About 200 will be reported at each- if at all.

No matter where you sit on the spectrum of vaccinations and passports, surely you must at this stage be asking why these large protests are being ignored by the main media? The revolution will not be televised indeed.

Also- NYC is coming alive- which is refreshing.
