A few years ago I by chance went in to possibly the same service. Lots of dogs with their people. The choir started singing, and as anyone who knows Christchurch will tell you, the acoustics are amazing. And every dog sat attentive. It was wonderful to watch.

This demeans the Church really, that’s up to themselves I suppose I’m not a believer. But prostrating itself at the altar of infantilised people who prefer dogs to people to a worrying degree is ridiculous.
The anthropomorphisation of dogs has gone off the scale in this country.
    It’s sad.

Almost 3,000 people have applied to give up their dogs because they didn’t realise it takes some effort.
Many dogs live miserable lives, because immature people wanted this nice cute puppy until they didn’t want it anymore.
People are starving and homeless and these cunts are bringing their dogs to church?

Andrew, all of the pets in Christchurch are physical, emotional and psychological aides to those who need and rely on for support due to a LACK of actual support provided for those who cannot avail through government/ HSE healthcare – are you the new ABM?

Didn’t Jesus have a few animals around him when he was born in a stable?

BTW, I work with animals day and night, so I’m well aware of living with animals and how to treat them – literally.

Climb down off the cross, ABM – you ain’t NO Jesus.

… also, see my comment on another post titled Arf.

I do agree to a certain extent about anthropomorphisation of dogs and pets in general. Most people will walk right over a person lying unconscious in the street or shop doorway, different story if it were a cute little dog.

      We are all gods creatures
And these creatures bring great comfort to their owners
They truly have saved the mental health of many people in this pandemic

Shayna will em’bark on a story from inniu. I met up with my friend at lunch-time in South Belfast, she was accompanied by her adorable, cockapoodle, “Peachey” – we had a couple of drinks, I went outside to have a smoke, my friend and Peachey joined me, She told me they were asked to leave, I immediately thought, Covid related incident? It seems no, a DRI – A Dog Related Incident. Irony, the bar is called, “The Greyhound”. Peachey an adorable, black cockapoodle, I whispered in her ear, “No Black Dogs, No Irish”.

      A Norn-Iron Cockapoodle called Peachey
Misbehaved so the boss got all preachy:
She was banned by the boozer
Who said, ‘If you lose her
We’d be happy enough then to greet-ye’.

My dog has kept me sane over all this sheeeet. Full-blown, one-way conversations, chasing tennis balls, more conversations, quizzical looks as he contains himself after I’ve suggested a walk. Faeces, doggy bags. But I love him. His name is Bodger. I jest not.

    1. Shayna

Hey, lovely. The dog I described is my friend’s. I tend to trave!, a lot. I can’t rea!!y have a dog, Peachey is my dog-daughter? Sure, loving the name, Bodger, and I reckon ye jest not!
