If only we hadn’t tolerated so many sub-par health ministers leo ?
You know, the ones who thought that hospitals work better when under pressure day to day.
we might have had a little more capacity in the hospitals……..

where are the keys to that shebeen ?

It’s the virus that’s being cruel is it Leo? Right. Vindictive little molecule that, shutting down the pubs in time for Christmas.

It’s the virus that’s being cruel is it Leo? Right. Vindictive little molecule that, shutting down the pubs and restaurants in time for Christmas.

… but that can not deflect us from keeping your masters happy.

      1. Mr.T

So further restrictions proposed are not from NPHET, but infact were proposed by Leo himself, simply disguised as NPHET proposals? Brilliant. The devious scoundrel strikes again

Going by how decisions seem to be made, theres more evidence to support my theory than the idea he’s answerable to noone

          2. Haroo

So is that the logic and proof you work on? There is nothing to disprove my theory therefore my theory must be correct despite the fact (don’t be put off by the fact I wrote fact) you have no evidence to support your… theory/inane and lazy connections.

Also, don’t think Nigel ever said Leo has no masters. He didn’t say he does. But in your fantasy there has to be a master somewhere controlling all the machinations. Or maybe he is a politician subject to pressure from various interest groups, competing interests, trying to appeal to voters and constituents whilst also dealing with a public health concern.

But of course because I said he is subject to pressure from interest groups you will immediately think “yeah, the illuminati/nazis/elites who want to destroy my freedom and way of life etc.” rather than just the boring old elites who want as big a slice of the pie as they can get as they have always wanted in most forms of democracy since its inception.

The truth is E Matty, they really don’t care about your freedom in any way. They don’t want to take it from you as it really isn’t all that important or interesting to them. Stop trying to make yourself the hero in a fantasy, it’s sad.

Your response, if you post one, will be of course that I am gullible/sheeple (a sheeperson?)/a collaborator with the forces of the reich etc. etc. etc.

Truth is this place is a kip and the two parties in govt have been the two parties who have always been in power since the foundation of the state. The fact that we have to go extra harsh and be extra cautious is because those two parties have completely failed to invest in or plan for a somewhat decent healthcare system. A heavy Friday night can put A&E depts under pressure. That is why there are all these restrictions to the extreme degrees we see them here. We cannot take the chance that it should be grand as all indications are that omicron is mild and doesn’t result in a large increase in hospitalisations but if that turns out not to be the case, the healthcare system is absolutely effed.

I’d have more sympathy for the poor hard-pressed publicans being forced to shut at 5pm if more of them bothered their hole to open before that time anyway.
Quite a few of them will be delighted to be back on PUP and all the other additional stuff they trousered during the last lockdown.
    Fupp ’em.

      1. Gearoid

They’ll earn more on PUP when it comes back than they ever did pulling pints for a few hours.
That was the great scam of the original scheme.Part-timers couldn’t believe their luck.
And I don’t know of a single pub that closed down permanently as a result of the pandemic.
        Publicans were looked after well.

bull, full time staff earn much more plus tips, I know I was in the bar trade long enough, not everyone is a part time spotty student.

also, how’s the famous Garda investigation going? answers on a postcard etc.

    1. Chris

They’ll need another decade, to ensure a through investigation. Then all the reports will be lost in a ‘hack’.

The current government parties are responsible for the dumming down of the health service but also claim they will do their best to save lives. Does anyone actually swallow this tripe

    1. Buzz Eireann (formerly Hughie Luas)

Most of the electorate. Surprise, surprise (pace Bourdieu).

      I take your point.

      (It’s “dumbing” by the way)

    1. goldenbrown

      stop calling him “Leo”
unless you like the idea of being fupped over by him
he’s not your friend, uncle or pet cat
he doesn’t get to have that cushy soft vernacular

  8. perricrisptayto

If only we were lucky enough to have him as our minister for health, we’d surely be out of this mess by now. Him being a doctor and all.

  9. DOC

According to the World Economic Forum Leo is the only Gay in the Village….
    Getting back to the Pubs….
There will be Two Pubs open after Eight O Clock
1 The Dail Bar with all of them laughing at the Little People
2 Danny Healy-Rae’s Bar down in Kerry

We are all in this Together
