My blue car was white his morning when I opened the curtains
A neighbour was doing the usual of pouring a boiling kettle over her windscreen. This is a really bad idea. Even if it does not crack the glass, it can affect the rubber seals which will be frozen, and the sudden heat can crack them. More likely is that the lamination of the windscreen can separate. It is made up of layers of glass and polymer plastic, which is why windscreens shatter into small not sharp pieces in an accident. Not so mush visible in newer cars, but older cars often had an opaque border around the windscreen. This was the lamination separating.
If you want to use water, use warm water only, not boiling, and start by freeing the wipers or the rubber can crack, then the rest. Best of all though is a good scraper. Apart from everything else, if you start the car, then start the scraping, you warm yourself up, and the car will be warm by the time you get ready to go.
And always clear all your windows.
Yes Slightly I was up early today as one of my mutts is on his last legs and was making a bit of noise
It suddenly got very cold just before dawn.
It’s a glorious day out there now thankfully.
My daffodils are a little late this year which surprises me because it didn’t feel like it was a particularly cold winter.
I know February is not everyone’s cup of tea but it’s one of my favourite months – you can almost feel the countryside beginning to come out of hibernation.
Marvellous.
