When I was a student I worked as a temp in a claims department. We had a few cases of elderly people being robbed of five figure sums. House insurance only covers a few hundred euro in cash.

I hate having cash in my house, I never have more than I would need on a day to day basis (which means I’d be lucky to find a fiver lying around). I had an attempted burglary last year so quite nervous.

Indeed – maybe some of the money can go towards security etc, make them feel safe again, it really, really boils my urine, these types of incidents, people in their own home, the epitome of minding their own business and such terrible damage done. It should be intolerable and it’s going on across the country on a regular basis it seems.

And the problem is, if the perpetrators are caught, their solicitor will just explain in court how they’re normally lovely lads. It was just that night they had six pints, two vodkas and half a Panadol each and they don’t know what came over themselves. Plus their granny died 15 years ago and they’ve never gotten over it.
They have no recollection of the events in question but they are extremely sorry and have bought €15 to court as a gesture of goodwill.
“Ah you’re grand lads. 2 years Probation..”

Ah they’re grand – they only had 1800 quid stole on them. Now they have over 31K!

I bet they start snorting cocaine off hooker’s cleavages in no time…

    WHAT? ;P
