Ah, my unread copy of Ulysses is now a year older.
Haha. I know the feeling.
I got about halfway through…. and then gave up.
I’m still intent on reading it someday. I remember trying when I was 21, I thought it was too early, come back in 10 years ha ha! Never came back.
Apparently the audiobook makes it easier. Gives you an idea as to the structure of the stream of consciousness, which I’m aware is something of a contradiction, leaving the listener to actually appreciate the words, instead of muddling through and cursing Joyce’s name.
Back in my day, we were told to buy a readers guide and suck it up.
for me my most hated book was the fipping Tain, wreaked my head, while I appreciate it as a cultural artefact it made my eyes bleed
i had notions of reading it in college. the book itself was a fiver but the reading guide was almost a hundred quid.
I read it about 10 years ago but wish I gave up. Haven’t a notion as to what was going on in it to be honest.
