Yes, COVID is just one big global competition isn’t it, Minister?
Typical of our national ‘under-achievement / punching above our weight’ syndrome.
    Idiot.

My question might be which world does he mean by “the” world, I would ask this because stephen clearly does not reside in the same world as me.
I don’t think I will be signing his homework diary this week.

    1. Nullzero

They sure do. The areas with the highest levels of vaccination have the highest numbers of hospitalizations.

They work at convincing stupid people they are a panacea.

    2. E'Matty

Yeah, they totally work. Amazing vaccines obviously. The proof is in the pudding. Look at how amazing Ireland is doing compared to the rest of Europe. Amazing.

  3. Micko

Ah well ye see, I look at this as proof that the vaccines are working.

As in – we have massive cases but relatively very few in hospital. And pretty much no one dying.

But, then why do we have so many cases in general? Because the vaccination doesn’t stop transmission. Which makes the whole vaccine passports thing redundant.

At the moment the Gov are in the unique position of successfully convincing the very gullible, that two polar opposites are true.

    a) That vaccines stop transmission while at the same time cases are running riot. b) And the cause of this rampant spread is down to the “fact” that the unvaccinated are spreading it and their movement needs to be curtailed with the vaccine passports, which clearly don’t work as cases are true the roof.

It’s quite an interesting social experiment.

Its hugely intellectually interesting, and would be great to watch from afar. But its a slightly horrifying social experiment to be living through first hand.

      1. Micko

I’m really trying to detach myself from it Zaccone.

I have success most days I have to say. ;)

I’m trying to be a “notebook guy”. Just observe and take notes.

“A recent study found that vaccinated people infected with the delta variant are 63 per cent less likely to infect people who are unvaccinated.”

“There are now several lines of evidence that Ct scores aren’t a good measure of the amount of virus someone has. Firstly, the fact that infected vaccinated people are much less likely to infect others. Peto has done a similar study to de Gier using contact tracing data from England and gotten similar results.

Secondly, Peto’s team specifically showed that there is little connection between Ct scores and infectiousness. “It appeared people who were positive after vaccination had the same viral load as the unvaccinated. We thought they were just as infectious. But it turns out you are less infectious,” says Peto. “That’s quite important. People were over-pessimistic.”

Yet another line of evidence comes from a study by Brooke. His team took samples from 23 people every day after they first tested positive until the infection cleared and performed tests, including trying to infect cells in a dish with the samples.

With five out of the six fully vaccinated people, none of the samples were infectious, unlike most from unvaccinated people. The study shows that vaccinated people shed fewer viruses and also stop shedding sooner than unvaccinated people, says Brooke.”

        Cool Oro

That’s all nice and stuff. Did you actually read that link to the study? The study was between household members only and it’s not peer reviewed.

So not exactly a study of lads in the pub singing ‘Sweet Caroline’ in each other’s faces at 2 in the morning.

        Here ya go https://www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1101/2021.10.14.21264959v1

But, anyway explain the big old dark red Ireland there in that picture with our 93% jabbed.

Look, the vax is keeping people out of hospital. Just be happy with that and stop thinking of yourselves as some kind of holier than thou infection free super person.

Yer as dirty and grimey as the rest of us.

        1. K. Cavan

Ah, Micko, that’s what it’s all about don’t ya know? By design, of course, careful design.
It’s revealing to see certain sections of Irish society grasp any chance to feel superior in public, others had been warming up online, for a while. It didn’t suprise me but yeah, it did disappoint me. How the majority have been herded along is terrifying, though.

      2. K. Cavan

Sorry, Oro, that’s just gibberish. You encounter a virus, you either become infected or not, whether you’re vaccinated or not. If you’re infected, you might transmit, TBH viral loads are irrelevant, especially if people are being confined indoors & wearing masks but viral loads are so similar in everyone who’s infected that it makes no difference. It’s like thinking one woman is less pregnant than another, apologies if you also believe that men can be pregnant, that’s not true either, though it will soon become government policy, too. The vaccines have been specifically designed to create an immune response to transfection, not to the presence of the virus, only your innate immune response or inoculation gives you any response prior to transfection.
Stop contradicting the companies who made the damn things, will you, it’s just pathetic, they specifically say their toxic injections will stop you becoming seriously ill, that’s all, nothing more & all the magical thinking in the world won’t change that.
        Another thing, Santa doesn’t exist.
Another thing, there was no pandemic in Ireland in 2020, see the CSO website, it’s all there, the HSE lied to the public, again.
As for “peer-reviewed papers”, well peers are cheap these days, drug companies call them “assets” & the first name on a paper is called the Lead Author & the one thing you can be sure of is that they did not write or even contribute to it, just read it & lodged the cheque. The person who actually wrote it is called the Writer & they’re contracted by & work with the PR dept of the company he’s doing the work for. It’s an absolute con, that’s why the most toxic substance ever to be injected into humans is still being forced on people, against their will.
Finally, New Scientist is a conspiracy theory website.

  4. Fergalito

Another stupid phrase that makes my skin crawl.

    “Envy of the world”- vomit!

Up there with “great little country to business in” and other flaccid rubbish.

    Double vom!

  5. JD

I think the message was confused with vaccines, they were never meant to stop covid from spreading entirely, their main aim was to reduce hospitalisations which they have done very successfully.
