From Anonymous:

No more shall the media pick and choose what the people hear as news. No more shall we allow you to report on Whitney Hudson (sic) when Syrian rebels push towards a civil war. No more shall we allow you to report on [basketball player] Jeremy Lin when the tension in the Middle East is mounting. No more shall we allow you to report on the Kardashians’s marital problems, Beyoncé’s baby drama, or Charlie Sheen’s drug problems when countries around the world are facing devastating financial bankruptcy. These Entertainment time-wasters have proven to be no more than a distraction to the people, as important news and headlines never get the justice they deserve. We are Anonymous and we are here to say, you can no longer choose what is front-page material.

Squee.

Thanks Portobello Geek

Thanks Matt

An anonymous email sent to us and many others this morning.
In 1984 Bonnie Tyler asked the question ‘where have all the good men gone?’
Almost 30 years later I ask myself the same question?
Seriously though, where the hell are they?!!
I have been single for three and a half years, 2 of those years where by choice. I’m 22, reasonably attractive and not looking to trap some poor misfortunate fella into the marriage and kids brigade.
All I want is a simple relationship, nothing fancy, a nice meal in a restaurant once in a while, trips to the cinema, a few drinks on a Friday or Saturday night, maybe the odd walk in Phoenix Park on a Sunday morning if I’m lucky.
I’ve been on several dates in the last year, all top notch nice guys. They were polite, funny, handsome, complimentary and, a major plus, great communicators. 90% of them bemoaned the fact that they too struggled (for want of a better word) to find Ms Right or even Ms Ahhsureyou’lldoforthetimebeing. I’ve had first dates and in some cases second dates. I managed a third and subsequently final forth date with one particular gent. It seemed everything went well, even great until that first hint of commitment came into play.
I thought to myself, surely its me. Did I have something between my teeth? Or was that joke a little to un-pc?
But I don’t seem to be the only one. The majority of my social group, male and female are single too. One associate of mine has the beauty of a model, an intellect to rival Fry and a sharp, dry wit that will knock you sideways and leave you with tears rolling down your cheeks. She’s never had a boyfriend. We tell her she’s beautiful and men are scared to be rejected by her. She tells us of her loneliness and ponders her inadequacies.
Are all the single men of Ireland afraid of commitment or are we looking in the wrong places?
So what’s a girl to do? Go down the old fashioned route of a shift, bag of chips and a phone number after a night out? Our capitals finest establishment, Copper Face Jacks, has seemed to lost its core group of the gards, farmers, teachers and nurses (the safe bets) and been replaced by a sex hungry, disposable breed of new men and women. In the last year I’ve yet to meet a guy in a nightclub who uses the number I give him, or am even given the time of day once he discovers he won’t be finding out the colour of my bedroom walls.
What about Match.com and its other colleagues? I don’t believe you should have to pay for love and I certainly don’t think I could could cope with people I know discovering my profile. My desperation for love and affection splayed across the web.
So all in all where do we go in this new Ireland, where even the pubs have failed us, to find a fella??
All I want is boy. He doesn’t have to be ripped from 6am gym sessions. He doesn’t have to be a high flyer employed at the IFSC. He doesn’t have to decked out in Hollister or Paul Galvin’s skinny jeans. He doesn’t need to look like Ryan Gosling.
He doesn’t even need an all Ireland medal draped around his neck.
He just has to be nice.
That’s all any of us want.
‘Lonely Girl’

Oh wait.

Anonymous has been waging a month-long campaign to rid the digital underground of child porn called OpDarkNet. So far, their attacks have been limited to taking down forums and websites where pedophiles trade child porn on a shadow internet known informally as the “dark net.”

But now the hackers say they’re sick of waiting around for law enforcement to act against the users of those sites. “They’ll take forever… due process for some of these guys are so weak,” one hacker told us in a chat room. “The best way for Law Enforcement to react is for us to release it. They can chose to follow or not.”

The list of 190 IP addresses posted by Anonymous (yesterday) is the product of an elaborate sting—nicknamed “Paw Printing”—that wouldn’t look out of place in an FBI investigation. Thanks to some quick coding and strategic planning, Anonymous hackers were able to trick visitors to a popular kiddie porn forum into downloading bugged software which tracked their every move for 24 hours.

In the aftermath of the alleged PayPal hack, sixteen suspected members of the Anonymous collective were arrested by the Feds yesterday morning in various US states.

The Department of Justice, in announcing the arrests and more than 35 search warrants in the case, said the case stemmed from an alleged cyberattack on the website PayPal over its action against controversial group WikiLeaks, one of the inspirations for the hacker group Anonymous.

They are charged with various counts of conspiracy and intentional damage to a protected computer, which carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000. Each count of conspiracy carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

Oh Anonymous, now you’re for it…

NATO leaders have been warned that Wikileaks-loving ‘hacktivist’ collective Anonymous could pose a threat to member states’ security, following recent attacks on the US Chamber of Commerce and defence contractor HBGary – and promise to ‘persecute’ its members.

In a toughly-worded draft report to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, General Rapporteur Lord Jopling claims that the loose-knit, leaderless group is “becoming more and more sophisticated”, and “could potentially hack into sensitive government, military, and corporate files”.

In the last few months, ‘headless’ hacker collective Anonymous has further increased its public profile and raised even more hackles by hacking larger targets.

Recently, infighting broke out when a rogue Anonymous member known as “Ryan” – took control of some of the servers that host the IRC channels used for DDoS attacks, prompting a core group of hackers – which is as close to a “leadership” that Anonymous has – to attempt to regain control.

Now, one prominent member of Anonymous has since announced he’s tired of the childish drama:

Barrett Brown, sometimes called a “spokesman” for Anonymous, publicly stated that he is no longer a part of the group and that he is forming a splinter group to continue work on exposing “criminality and corruption” within U.S. government and institutions. The feud between “Ryan” and the rest of Anonymous was a big reason for Brown’s departure.

“I’m tired of the drama,” Brown said. “You’ve got kids fighting for control of an IRC channel. I’m a researcher. I’m into revolutionary stuff. But there are other people for whom its about exerting power.”
