But…

John Cronin writes:

I know you don’t ‘normally do this’ but I am pleading for as much help I can to get my bike back, as it is my pride and joy. It’s a limited-edition bike made by Felt for Carhartt. There are only 1000 in the world, and this is the only one in Ireland. It was stolen on Saturday on Grafton Street, Dublin. It could be anywhere now at this stage. I’ ve reported it to the guards but I need as many eyes as possible. I’d be very grateful if anyone can help.

Anyone?

An update on Noah Horak from Minnesota, whose expensive Enduro bike was stolen in broad daylight outside a hostel just eight hours after he arrived for the Irish leg of his round the world trip.

It turns out he’s been loaned a 640 Adventure (similar to the bike in the second pic above) to complete his Ireland tour by all-round daycent skin Peter Bookey of Aaron Rider Training.

Yay!

No sign of Noah’s original bike yet, sadly.

The Faraday Porteur Bike, despite its retro butcher’s bike looks, has a cache of lithium ion batteries packed inside the frame, integrated front and rear LED lights controlled by an ambient light sensor, a subtly placed on/off switch and an e-ink battery meter.

The front carrier can hold 14kg and the bike itself weighs about 20kg, which won’t bother its rider in the least. Pedal and the electric motor matches your leg power automatically. There’s also a ‘boost’ button for extra welly.

Currently most of the way toward Kickstarter funding for a first production run, the bikes are available for $3500.

Or $10,000 for a bespoke, handmade ‘collectors edition’.

With the Electric DeLorean not due out until 2013, DMC has approved an appetite-whetter in the sleek and shiny form of the DeLorean Bicycle:

Italian-made Columbus XCR tube frame — in stainless steel, of course — as well as a belt drive transmission, an 11-speed internally-geared hub, front and rear hydraulic disc brakes, a luminescent coating on the wheels, an Italian-made gel saddle, and a full carbon fork.

The price? $5,500.
