Love and nom: together at last.

MiX@ is a new concept for unattached people who have had enough scary encounters on Tinder and POF “cringe at the thought of cheesy single set ups, online dating and faceless matchmaking”.

Nikki writes:

“This is not about speed dating, or gimmicky matchmaking services, this is about broadening your circles of people with whom you ‘mix’ with, the fact that they are all single – well it’s just an added bonus. MiX@ is different, present at big social events you’d otherwise want to attend…”

Yesterday we asked YOU to confess to not returning a library book and have the chance to walk away with a copy of Libraries, the book about beautiful libraries by Dublin-based luxury brand Roads at a coffee-spilling €45.

You gave up your auld sins in your dozens.

Runners up:

“I would like to now confess that in my younger years I failed to return a book on the Bermuda Triangle to Longford Public Library. I heard no more about it, so I assume they looked upon its disappearance as an inevitability.” (Mick Flavin)

“I would like to now confess that in my younger years I failed to return Richard Scarry’s Busy Workers. Although I was neither busy nor a worker.” (brw)

“I would like to now confess that in my younger years I failed to return the Children of Lir. I don’t know where I left them, I was on the way to Bob’s house, lovely kids, about 900 years ago, actually have you seen them?” (Don Conroy)

“I would like to now confess that in my younger years I failed to return The Bible and I am very sorry. Yes, I stole a Bible. I see the irony of the situation because I also stole The Oxford Dictionary of Literary Terms.” (Marvel Gumshoe)
,
“I would like to now confess that in my younger years I failed to return to Earth, thus never getting to bring “Rocket Science for Dummies” back to the library and I am very sorry.”
(Nialfall “in space”)

“I would like to now confess that in my younger years I failed to return ‘The Selfish Gene’ because I want stuff for myself and that’s just the way I evolved.” (Spaghetti Hoop)

Winner:

“I would like to now confess that in my younger years I failed to return…. absolutely nothing cos I was a total nerd! And I am now a librarian (I’m at the reference desk right now!) so I’d really like the book. And it would make up for still being a total nerd, a little bit.” (mo_musing)

Thanks all.

You might recall our  Dundrum Town Centre [Dundrum, Co Dublin] giveaway to celebrate the ‘Shop For Good’ charity voucher initiative running at the mall until this Sunday?

Following overnight deliberations the judges have decided to split the €100 voucher in two – giving a €50 voucher to two entrants (below) that expressed differing reasons to spend their loot at the award-winning  Big Bang Comic Store in the centre.

“When I win I intend blowing the Dundrum Town Centre €100 voucher on stacks of comics in The Big Bang because it’s great to have an Eisner Award nominated shop in this country and I’d like to help support it any way I can (plus I already drop a few hundred a month here as it is so my wallet could do with a break). [Parp]

“When I win I intend blowing the Dundrum Town Centre €100 voucher on comics in The Big Bang because comics, duh. Na na na-na na na na-na COMICS, COMICS! (Don’t tell me you didn’t sing that in the batman theme song melody) Also I will become officially unemployed in one month so a Dundrum voucher would definitely come in handy in terms of feeding/entertaining myself come June..”
[Rebecca McGrane].

Michael O’Riordan writes:

“I just wanted to share a little update with you. You may remember that I won a bottle of Teeling Single Grain whiskey for my Dad who had just stepped down as Carer of the Year? I referred to his fiancé-in-waiting? Well, the bottle has finally been finished as the waiting is over! Last Saturday, May 3, my Dad got married to his fiancé Terry. He was resplendent in his old Irish Army dress uniform, fitted for him in 1961 and which he still fits perfectly. Thanks again to Broadsheet.ie and Teeling for the prize…
