What you may need to know:

1. Magic Mike used to dance. He was out of the game, finished, retired but he comes back one last time to shake his xxl bits at a stripping convention.

2. The first Magic Mike (2012) made a crotch tonne of money.

3. Matthew McConaughey has gone on to win an Oscar and star in a hit TV show. Magic Mike (2012) director Steven Soderbergh is still messing around with 2001: A Space Odyssey.

4. Channing wrote the script for this sequel. Channing just wants to dance and have fun. Which is cool too.

5. This trailer premiered on the Ellen DeGeneres show. Really?

6. Who is the hairy fella at 1.13? He looks badass for a lad covered in baby oil.

7. Tatum is a better dancer then welder in fairness. We are better at welding then dancing. Evens.

8. Broadsheet Prognosis: Not a dry seat in the house.

Release Date: 31st July 2015

What you may need to know:

1. When Ryan Gosling is not acting, breaking up fights or being the face of the feminmeme he is making movies. This one is about a mother trying her best for her two kids in a Detroit ruined by a dammed river and gangsters.

2. Gosling has taken a more then a little inspiration from the work of Nicolas Winding Refn who he teamed up with for Drive (2011) and Only God Forgives (2013). He must also watch a lot of David Lynch and Terrence Malick movies.

3. By ‘a little inspiration’ we do mean Oasis levels of inspiration.

4. The trailer looks like a cool art film that we would like to see. The critics make us want to burn it with fire.

5. He put his ladyfriend in it which is cool. Saoirse Ronan in the house too!

6. Broadsheet Prognosis: Ryan Turkeyling

What you may need to know:

1. The epic Royal Rumble returns for a fifth season. This season will adapt material from A Feast For Crows which is the fourth book in George R. R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire series.

2. We have already lost Robb and Joffrey and Tywin over the top rope. Cersei’s daughter Myrcella’s feet never actually touched the ground so she is making a comeback. The Sand Snakes (0.16) and the House of Martell (1.01) are also ready to storm the ring.

3. This season seems to be spending a lot of time in the Kingdom of Dorne by the looks of things. These shots were filmed in Osuna, Seville and Cordoba. The wet and cold looking shots were filmed in Belfast.

4. The next written installment of the series will not be available until at least 2016. “What the hell do you people want from me? These books are only massive. Do you know how long it takes to type these fupping things out”, is how we imagine his publishers meetings go.

5. There have been calls for the HBO series to carry on without a book after series 6. That’s gratitude.

6. “Who said anything about him?” (1.30) Wooah! Not really.

7. Broadsheet Prognosis: The potty training is over.

Release Date: April 13 2015

What you may need to know:

1. Set during Stalin’s Soviet Union rule, disgraced MGB Agent Leo Demidov (Tom Hardy) is tasked with solving a brutal series of child murders.

2. Fun fact: Did you know that Russians don’t actually speak to each other in Russian? It’s simply too hard to understand, so they just converse in heavily-accented English instead.

3. Just check out Harrison Ford in K-19: The Widowmaker (2002) or Daniel Craig in Defiance (2008) for proof. At least Sean Connery had the cojones to not even try.

5. Tom Hardy’s a busy boy. In addition to Child 44, he has four other movies on the slate for 2015, including Mad Max: Fury Road (2014) and pulling double duty as both Kray twins in Legend (2015).

6. He’s also signed up to play Elton John in the upcoming Rocketman biopic. Really.

7. Broadsheet Prognosis: Strong like bull.

Release Date: 17th April

What you may need to know:

1. NSFW.

2. Ted (Seth McFarlane) and his new wife Tami-Lynn (Jessica Barth) are trying for a baby. But to have custody of the child, Ted has to prove that he is a human in a court of law.

3. A fix of Seth “Marmite” McFarlane while you’re waiting for Two Million Ways to Die in the West. Just kidding – nobody’s waiting for Two Million Ways to Die in the West.

4. It may not have been big or clever, but the first one was damn funny. Unlike A Million Ways to Die in the West (2014).

5. GORDON’S ALIVE? A quick perusal of Sam J. Jones’ IMDB entry will tell you that acting is not his primary source of income. He now runs a security firm specialising in hostage extraction and protecting the super rich in high-risk environments. How’s that for random?

6. This trailer has a noticeable lack of Mila Kunis. For whatever reason, Amanda Seyfried is taking over the role of token female.

7. Broadsheet Prognosis: Ted Talks, Too.

Release Date: July 10

Turbo Kid pleine page fantasia_FINAL

What you may need to know:

1. It’s the apocalypse and murdering bad-asses and shoulder pad makers are cleaning up. A teenager finds an ancient turbo charged weapon and sets about cleaning house and protecting his moth Apple. Yes, moth.

3. There are other short clips available to view if you have an appetite for 80’s synth and an internet connection.

4. It is an expansion of a short film called ‘T is for Turbo’ which was submitted to the ABCs of Death anthology.

5. Jason Eisener of Hobo with a Shotgun (2011) fame is producing along with the short film’s original French creators.

What you may need to know:

1. Four intrepid explorers start meddling with things they barely understand and the whole thing becomes an exciting mess. More of a sci-fi mess then a comic book mess in fairness though.

2. Our appetite for comic book heroes and reboots has yet to be satisfied.

3. Jessica Alba is too old for all this messing now inanyways. The last Fantastic Four film made her want to “quit acting”. Flame on!

4. Josh Trank is in the hot seat for this one after sharpening his teeth with Chronicle (2012). Jamie Bell and the so hot right now Miles Teller are helping out too.

5. Fox had to use it or lose it and make a film before their rights to the franchise ran out. This is in spite of what appears to be some aggression from Marvel. It’s clobberin’ time.

6. Broadsheet Prognosis: The Freaky Four rides again.

Release Date: August 7

What you may need to know:

1. Julian Michaels (Bruce Willis) has designed the ultimate resort where anything goes and customers can play out their wildest… Oh sod it. Let’s just talk about Bruce Willis.

2. Remember the last time Willis was good? Neither does he.

3. It’s hard to pin down exactly when Willis stopped caring, but following The Jackal (1997) with Mercury Rising (1998) probably didn’t help.

4. Willis couldn’t appear more disinterested in this trailer if he followed the camera with both middle digits extended for the entirety of his screen time.

5. If he insists on doing guff like this, then Willis should be contractually obliged to defend it in an endless loop of un-air-conditioned press junkets until he has a professional epiphany.

6. Broadsheet Prognosis: Bruno hits bottom and keeps digging.

Release Date: TBC.

What you may need to know:

1. After a one night stand, Jay (Maika Monroe) discovers that her partner has transferred a sinister presence onto her that will follow her relentlessly unless she can pass it on to someone else…

2. …Like gonorrhoea. Or genital herpes. “It” seems like a not-so-subtle allegory for an STD. Remember kids: Always use protection.

3. It Follows premiered at Cannes last year and has been getting pretty great reviews.

4. Between this, The Babadook (2015) and Guillermo del Toro’s upcoming Crimson Peak (2015), it’s a good time for horror. Good riddance to bad found footage.

5. Monroe last appeared in The Guest, last year’s sleeper hit that proved that you should never judge a movie by the poster.

6. Broadsheet Prognosis: I Know Who You Did Last Summer.

Release Date:
February 27.

2. The world is seemingly full of highly trained madmen with specific sets of skills.

3. It’s from Dr. Frankenstein himself Pierre Morel. There are no Hollywood corpses he cannot inject life into.

4. It’s an adaptation of the best selling crime novel ‘The Prone Gunman’ by Jean-Patrick Manchette.

5. Sean Penn says calling The Gunman an ‘action film’ is “kind of like calling Meryl Streep a sexy blonde chick She is. But that really doesn’t tell the story of what she is at all.” Um.

6. Broadsheet Prognosis: Penn is mightier than the sword.

Release Date: March 20
