1. Jack Ryan is BACK! He was Alec Baldwin, then Harrison Ford, then Ben Affleck, now he’s… Captain Kirk?

2. Ryan creator Tom Clancy passed away last week. Never read his books, but his video games ROCKED.

3. Shadow Recruit is directed by Sir Kenneth Branagh, who doubles up as the bad guy to save a few quid.

4. Keira Knightly plays the love interest, because you have to be in a big stupid hit every once in a while.

5. Kevin Costner is to hand, to remind audiences what an actual movie star looks like.

6. We’re still not convinced by the whole Chris Pine thing, particularly after that second Star Trek movie.

1. It’s not a trailer, it’s a webisode, if you don’t mind.

2. The Oath is directed by Greg Nicotero, who does all the zombie FX.

3. The first season of Walking Dead was pretty great. Then the guy who created the show got fired.

4. The second season managed the seemingly impossible: it made a show about zombies boring.

5. Season three picked up somewhat, apparently. We’re still stuck on Season Two, on that bloody farm.

6. For the upcoming season four, they’ve got another new showrunner in.

7. Anybody still watching it?

1. The internets is only bursting with promos for L/H 4. Here’s our favorite one.

2. Each season has been better than the last. Fingers crossed for this one. It’s looking pretty sweet.

3. RTÉ brought the screening date of season 4 forward so they could get the DVD out for Xmas.

4. They initially had a hard time selling it abroad on account of the first season being dodgy. Now it’s on Channel 5 in the UK.

5. King Nidge is Officially an Irish Style Icon – discuss.

6. And yes, Darren is definitely dead. We think.

7. Are we over the end of Breaking Bad yet?

1. Jude Law: lovely fellow, but has he ever truly given a great movie performance?

2. All right, he was decent in The Talented Mr. Ripley (1999), but that was a long time ago.

3. We’re hearing that this is the best thing he’s ever done.

4. The director, Richard Shepard, did the same thing for Pierce Brosnan in The Matador (2005).

5. Richard E. Grant – always a pleasure.

1. Breaking Bad ends this weekend. Aaron ‘Jessie Pinkman’ Paul is off to be a movie star.

2. It’s a movie based on a video game. Great movies based on video games include… Oh, wait.

3. That said, this looks like fun. Big stupid fun.

4. And Michael Keaton’s in it, even if he isn’t in the trailer. We do love Michael Keaton.

What you may need to know:

1. It’s a new documentary from Irishman Paul Duane.

2. It’s about cult music legend Jerry McGill, a forgotten one hit wonder with a criminal streak. He died in June.

3. Duane did an incredible doc, Barbaric Genius (2012), on writer John Healy, and produced RTE’s new drama contender Amber. He’s the real deal.

4. We do love a good music doc. This is a great one.
