Hi guys. This is Hannah McCleane, age 13, who yesterday had her lovely long locks chopped for charity in our salon! It’s for the Rapunzel Foundation which takes in donations of ponytails  to make wigs for children who are going through cancer treatment.

She was also raising money for the Irish Cancer Society by getting sponsored to have her hair cut. She is a fantastic young lady and thought you guys should know about her.

Last week, New York restaurant Serendipity3 set a Guinness World Record for the priciest burger with this gourmet $295 NOMfest, described by PRNewswire as:

…a mix of Japanese Wagyu beef infused with 10-herb white truffle butter, seasoned with Salish Alderwood smoked Pacific sea salt, topped with cheddar cheese — hand-formed by the famous cheesemaker James Montgomery in Somerset, England, and cave-aged for 18 months — shaved black truffles, a fried quail egg and served on a white truffle-buttered Campagna Roll, which is topped with a blini, creme fraiche, and Paramout Caviar’s exclusive Kaluga caviar — a beautiful golden caviar with a buttery, nutty taste and large pearls from the Huso Dauricus farm raised in Quzhou, China. The finishing touch to this incredible burger is a solid gold “Fleur de Lis” toothpick encrusted with diamonds and designed by world-renowned jeweler.’

48 hour notice is required when ordering the burger, profits from which are donated to the Bowery Mission a NY charity that feeds homeless people.

‘SECRET’ top-up payments to disability charity chiefs on salaries up to €150,000 are being investigated by Department of Health officials. The officials are conducting a high-level probe into how the charities are spending €1.5bn in state funding. They now believe some senior executives are getting extra payments on top of their salaries.

…One leading charity, Rehab, made it clear that it did not welcome  [Health Minister] Dr Reilly’s request for information on its chief executive Angela Kerins’ package. Rehab chairman Brian Kerr told the minister that Ms Kerins’ remuneration was “not a matter in which you have a role” as her salary was funded from money raised from other commercial sources rather than out of the €36m the charity received from the State last year. He did, however, tell Dr Reilly that Ms Kerins received a salary of €234,000. But he denied she was getting bonus payments on top of that

Spare a thought for Angela though.

She made €400,000 in 2009.
