Three weeks ago she was found covered in cement, blind in one eye and painfully bewildered.

And today?

From Dublin SPCA:

Just a little update on Faith the kitten that came in covered in cement and fly strike [fly eggs had hatched underneath an infected eye]. Faith is now with one of our fantastic foster people Dave (above) and is doing really well.

From Dublin SPCA:

Faith (above), a four-week female kitten, came into the shelter in a bad way last Friday, she had been separated from her mum, had an infected eye that had scabbed over with fly eggs hatching underneath, and had somehow gotten covered in cement.

So, how is she now?

Ah here.

From Dublin SPCA:

The charity is urging anyone with information regarding the identity of the people responsible for dumping two four-week-old female puppies from the back of a car at Millennium Business Park, Dublin 15 over the weekend to come forward.
The terriers  are extremely nervous, underweight and heavily worm-burdened; but it is hoped with lots of TLC they will be ready to go to a foster home very soon.

In a separate,  incident, a 10 week old, ginger and white male kitten was rescued from the city centre by a member of the public having witnessed it being kicked about by a gang of children.

From Dublin SPCA:

Our very very handsome king of the farmyard animals, Elvis the goat (above) has died. Elvis came to the Dubiln SPCA in 2006 where we loved him tender for 6 years. He was an adult when he arrived and we are not sure how old he was, goats can live up to 18 years of age. Elvis loved to have his picture taken and to show off to the public who came to visit the shelter. In the last few months he opted for the quieter life and would hang out in the stable most of time. Thank you everyone who sponsored Elvis over the years. We miss you Elvis our lovable rogue. RIP.

The dog who was thrown over a wall on one of the very cold nights.

This is him NOW:

And with large new pal Lexi.

Miriam Kerins at the DSPCA sez:

When our inspectors rescued Maurice he was largely unresponsive, was suffering from hypothermia and our veterinary team didn’t think he’d make it.  But he’s a little fighter and even though he is doing really well, we are taking it each day at a time.

Lexi is also a rescue dog but has been adopted by Colleen who runs our coffee shop. Lexi visits Maurice every day because she wants to mother him.

But safe now.

From Dublin SPCA:

Meet Maurice, the 3-week-Old Jack Russell terrier puppy. The DSPCA received a call on Friday from a member of the public who found this little fella in their back garden. He had been thrown over the wall during the night. It was a wonder he survived the night as temperatures were below freezing.

Pat Kenny with Animal Welfare Officers Lisa Kemp, left, and Gillian Duffy, launched the Dublin SPCA’s emergency response vehicle the Mitsubishi L200 yesterday.

From the DSPCA:

Every year, the Dublin SPCA receives 90,000 calls from concerned members of the public regarding cruelty, abuse and violence toward animals. Each of these calls is thoroughly investigated and now, trained inspectors and ambulance drivers will be able to utilize this new vehicle to reach animals in crises with a lot more ease and efficiency.

Not any more.

From the DSPCA:

This is Lizzie on a walk in Sandymount. She came into the shelter in May ’11, had numerous medical problems and was afraid of her own shadow. After a very long stay in the Dublin spca, her 2nd foster home fell totally in love with her and offically adopted her last friday. She has made so much progress in her new home with Colin & linda. Thank you so much from Lizzie & all at the DSPCA x
