In March1980, Sean Clancy and Sean Walsh converted a conventional car to an electric car from the basement of a house in Moycullen, Co Galway.
Clancy declared: “We think it’s the car of the future.”
The car attracted no investors and the project was abandoned.
This week, Sean Clancy {Walsh has since passed on] was appointed an ESB Electric-Car Ambassador and will be given the free use of an electric car for a year.
