They spent the night socialising in the city centre before two of the men split from the group and, it is claimed, went searching for a brothel in the Catherine Street area.
One man, who lives in the area, was on his way home when the officers are said to have mistaken his residence for a brothel. As the man opened his front door, the two off-duty officers tried to enter the building and ‘demanded to be taken to prostitutes’.
So demanding.

Given the huge number of negative Garda stories (usually based on ill-informed innuendo and unashamedly pushing a certain agenda) you are more than happy to post a ‘Meanwhile, in Clondalkin’ post about the two unarmed Gardai who just foiled a cash-in-transit robbery? In the interests of fair and impartial journalism…Anyone?
The request [from Garda whistleblower John Wilson] revealed that from a total of 1,688,349 Garda summons issued, 646,509 were not served which totals 38 per cent.
A Garda press offer said:”…there are a multiplicity of reasons for non-service including: change of address, incorrect name recorded, incorrect details recorded, summons issued and alternative charges preferred, deceased persons, where persons cannot be located, persons residing outside the jurisdiction, re-issue of summons, summonses served by post returned un-served etc.”
