Bit of a long day.

Dublin Spca write:

Today our inspector Mr. Liam Kinsella collected this kitten named sparkle from a very kind lady who had taken it from children that were trying to attach fireworks to its legs with cable ties. Sparkle is very lucky as it is unthinkable to imagine the injuries this horrific act could have caused. Please make sure all your pets are safe and sound tonight.

Somewhere in Portlaoise.

Here’s something you might like for the day that’s in it. True story. I have a bit of a fetish for abandoned and decayed buildings [Urbex].
I was driving through Portlaoise a few months ago and in the corner of my eye I spotted an old, burnt-out abandoned house.

The front door was chained but with a little shoulder power I managed to squeeze through, into the hallway. Nothing much downstairs so I tip-toed up the very charred stairs hoping I wouldn’t go through it.

I gently pushed open the main bedroom door and was confronted with this. Almost shit myself! Someone had gone to the trouble of strapping a 7 foot crucifix to the rafters with electrical wire and barbecuing Jesus.

I lashed out a few frames before some curse was bestowed upon me.

Anyone?

South bank of the Royal Canal, between the Convention Centre and North Strand [Dublin]. Couple of small fires last night. Urchins pictured stayed with their stockpile all night, have been collecting wood and tyres for a month now.

Fair play though, in fairness.

“Once I saw that mask ye put up [yesterday] I knew I had a photo of me wearing it back in the 1980s. Got my father to dig it up and scan it in. So there I am on the right in 1986 in Limerick, aged 5; my cousin in the middle, Pa C, aged 4; and my brother on the left, Paud M, aged 3. They were simpler times – where a face mask from Quinnsworth and your aunty’s 1980s shirt were enough to go trick or treating.”
