Two independently-run gigs of decent Irish music, both just outside the city centre: Homebeat’s MART show featuring soulful upcomer His New Atlas and the ambient electronic guitar style of Chequerboard. Over on Dorset Street the next night, A4 Sounds are putting on grungy rock band Bitch Falcon [above performing Syncope], American-born Dublin based folk singer Cal Folger Day and alt-folk band Rivers And Crows.

There’s a large lineup including Dónal Lunny & Paddy Glackin, The Spook Of The Thirteenth Lock, Withered Hand, Jet Setter, The Jimmy Cake, Temper-Mental MissElayneous, Groom, Brigid Power Ryce, Floor Staff, Tandem Felix, Slow Skies and a special performance of Christmas Hearts – a song for Christmas, in aid of the Peter McVerry Trust featuring members of So Cow, Villagers, Fight Like Apes and Bouts. All proceeds go towards Simon Community.
