Do you enjoy lush live music?

Barry writes:

Carol Keogh, formerly of The Plague Monkeys and one of the great underappreciated talents in Irish music, plays Whelan’s [Camden Street, Dublin] tomorrow night. It is the launch of Carol’s beautiful new album Mongrel City which, with titles such as ‘Forty Foot’, ‘Grand Parade’ and ‘Limbo Estate’, ring some of the cultural and political changes that the city, and the country, has been through in recent times.

Band members were Romy, Dave Hingerty (The Frames), Elton Mullally (The Tightrope Walkers), Martin Moran (The Tightrope Walkers) and composer, Colin J Morris and  guests included Colm Mac Con Iomaire and Bill Blackmore, who provided string and brass arrangements for a little touch of symphony.

The Beagles We Cut Corners – Mammals

An existential hound-packed video made by Annie Atkins of Grand Budapaest Hotel (2013) artwork fame.

Sez Annie:

“I was interested to find out that Conall and John [of We Cut Corners] are both school teachers so I set the video in a special classroom for dogs, and a beagle from Bray called Sonny played most of the canine characters – he was a pretty versatile lead.”

Christmas In Liverpool.

By Dublin band Monster Monster

Mick Stuart (top left) of the band writes:

We contacted Liverpool FC with our Christmas song, Christmas In Liverpool, and they love it. They played it at Anfield [Liverpool Ground] on Saturday and plan playing it over the Christmas games. The Liverpool Echo have picked up the story and are looking to do more with it:  Also, it looks like BT Sport are picking up the tune for their Christmas schedule. I am a life-long Liverpool fan. Can you imagine? I only ever wanted to play for Liverpool above anything else in life. Hearing our song at Anfield is the nearest I will ever get. I feel like an 8-year-old again. YouTube hits are growing so it seems like we’ve tuned into something.

Meanwhile…

Liverpool FC stadium announcer George Sephton writes:

“It’s a beautiful piece of music.  I will be playing it again at each game before Xmas and then AGAIN before Xmas 2015 and for as many Christmases as I have left at Anfield….”
