Dr [Diarmuid] Martin also refused to comment on the fact that New York Cardinal Timothy Dolan, who is playing a leading role at the congress, is embroiled in controversy over an alleged payout policy of €20,000 to encourage paedophile priests to quit the priesthood. “I have read the stories in the newspapers but I know nothing about it,” he said.
