Alex Bermingham, protests outside Clerys on O’Connell Street over the way new owners, venture capitalists Gordon Brothers, have treated staff in the outlets they have already closed [including Guiney’s in Blanchardstown, Naas and Sandyford], and their decision to shut down the company’s pension scheme.

Staff Protest Outside Clery’s After Takeover (Irish Examiner)

“When users can be anonymous (or even hide behind a social media avatar), the temptation to behave in an anti-social manner is too much for some to resist. Please note I said “some”. But you only have to read the comments after any Broadsheet post or Guardian Comment Is Free piece to realise that “some” is a significant number. Here, you’ll see that a significant minority quickly morph into the kind of people you’d cross the street to avoid in real life. Psychologists would have a field day with such Walter Mitty antics, as office dudes become keyboard warriors once they log on to their favourite online hangout as SmurfKnight69.”

That’s YOU.

You are literally morphing into Smurfs.

Or smurfing into Morphs, if you want to be pedantic.

Mark Foley writes:

I know “you don’t normally do this” but I’m hoping this will be one of those exceptions. Myself and my fiance were at her brother’s wedding afters in Fallon and Byrne and next door in Ukiyo on Exchequer Street, Dublin, on Saturday night and have lost her camera with all of the wedding photos…The camera is a Canon IXUS 95 IS Digital Camera in Silver. It may still be in a black Canon Ixus branded case. Reward and massive relief if we can track it down. Thanks!
